"Thought was for it a device necessary to certain ends, but thought in itself did not interest it. It assumed reason as externally and inorganically as it had assumed Weston's body." /
CS Lewis on meeting AI in Perelandra:
"Indeed no imagined horror could have surpassed the sense which grew within him as the slow hours passed, that this creature was, by all human standards, inside out - its heart on the surface and its shallowness at its heart... /
The outlines of a Christian theology of AI are pretty simple I think:
1. humanity are animals distinguished by rationality (real knowledge and free agency) teleology (communion with God by knowing and loving him).
"Ransom soon perceived that it regarded intelligence simply and solely as a weapon, which it had no more wish to employ in its off-duty hours than a soldier has to do bayonet practice when he is on leave... /

This has been necessary ever since the C of E bishops commended prayers of blessing for gross sins, and abandoned the orthodox doctrine of marriage (and lied about it), at the beginning of the 'Living in Love and Faith' episode, as I argued in 2023.

“It is vital for these readers to understand that there is a living faith in a living God, and not to be defrauded by the current ascendancy of its dead counterfeit.”
Superb explanation by @petermileach of why Sarah Mullally should not be taken as representing real Christianity.
Thanks to @PremierRadio for having me on to talk about this very dangerous issue.
If you’re a Christian of any type who holds to the standard Christian doctrine of marriage, you need to be concerned.

@MPWRoberts tells @PremierRadio the campaign for a CT law is “about trying to make it a criminal offence to oppose LGBT ideology” https://t.co/g4swFyc90y
