Pakistan's social media told the world it had captured India's first woman Rafale pilot. Five months later she stood next to the President of India in front of a Rafale.

Her name is Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh, from Varanasi.

She was the first Indian woman to fly the Rafale.

In May 2025, during Operation Sindoor, Pakistani handles started posting her photo. They claimed an Indian woman pilot had been shot down and captured.

A British influencer shared it. Pakistani accounts kept pushing it.

The photos they used showed two different women named Shivangi.

On 10 May 2025 the government's fact check unit called the claim fake and said pro Pakistan handles were behind it.

On 29 October 2025 President Droupadi Murmu flew a sortie in a Rafale at Ambala Air Force Station.

Before she took off, she posed for a photo with the pilot Pakistan had claimed to have captured.
