BOTTOM LINE: SNDK made a lot of people rich (not me) because of the fast run up and good luck. If you bought $MU 15 years ago you'd also be rich off 100 shares. Timing was in the $SNDK investors favor last year.
Everyone keeps asking why $MU "isn't as expensive" as $SNDK. Wrong question. You're comparing sticker price on two stocks with wildly different share counts. That's not valuation, that's a rookie mistake. Thread 🧵
Sales and margins matter, they're not nothing. But if you're not factoring in float and share count, you're not valuing the stock, you're just reacting to a price tag.
So stop comparing $SNDK and $MU dollar for dollar and asking why MU "isn't higher." Compare market caps. Compare shares outstanding. You're buying a slice of a company, not a number on a screen.
We've watched this movie before. $TSLA split 5-for-1 in 2020 and 3-for-1 in 2022. Both times the "lower" price reignited retail buying and the stock got bid right back up, even though nothing about the company changed. Low float + low sticker price = momentum magnet.
This is exactly why splits exist and why the SNDK split talk matters. A 10-for-1 split changes nothing about the business, zero impact on earnings or market cap. It just multiplies shares by 10 and divides price by 10. Suddenly the stock "looks cheap" again to retail.
Price alone tells you nothing. Market cap = price x shares outstanding. SNDK trading in the $1,500-2,000+ range on a tiny float will always look "pricier" than MU's ~$900-1,000 on a share count 7x larger. That's arithmetic, not a signal about which company is worth more.
$SNDK has ~148M shares outstanding. $MU has ~1.13B. That's over 7x more shares. Same market cap, MU's value gets sliced across 7x more shares. Of course the per-share number looks "lower." It's the same pie cut into more pieces.
@Mr_Derivatives Also this stock boosted in pre
Market on Friday so low volume push up.
We do have the incoming forced buy for inclusion in the MSCI world by Aug 28/31.
Look for large volume then, albeit might come be muted by the market makers. Down to 20 shares. I can manage that.
@AlbertoFNeumann@Mr_Derivatives You don’t know that. Granted a million people from South Korea also had a hand. But it’s a number 2200 sometimes a magnetic draw to it.
$SNDK SAME posts 4/30 about SNDK doom posts then 5/1 positive posts when market stock turns around.
I think this helps me understand that this down turn is possibly same setup.
Here’s the search
