A 7-year-old girl was riding her bike when a stranger pulled up, grabbed her and forced her into his car.
Her aunt, Alecia Swejkoski, saw it happen and sprinted toward the vehicle.
Alecia threw herself halfway through the driverโs side window and started fighting him while her niece was still trapped inside. The man punched her, grabbed for the wheel and violently jerked the car forward and backward, trying to throw her off and get away.
But Alecia kept one hand on the steering wheel and the other fighting to get his grip off the little girl.
Then another driver, Scott Van Luven, saw what was happening and pulled his vehicle in front of the car to block the suspect in. He rushed over, helped pull the man out and held him there until police arrived.
Alecia was hurt, but her niece got out safely.
Because Alecia refused to let go and Scott chose to stop and help, that little girl made it safely back to her family.

The story of Blessed Alexandrina Maria da Costa is one of the most extraordinary Eucharistic miracles recorded in modern Church history.
She was born on March 30, 1904, in a small village in Balasar, into a poor but deeply Catholic family. As a young girl, Alexandrina loved prayer, especially devotion to Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and to the Virgin Mary.
But when she was 14 years old, a tragic event changed her life forever. To escape three men who tried to assault her, she jumped from a window in her home to protect her purity. The fall severely damaged her spine. At first she could still move a little, but over time her condition worsened until she became completely paralyzed and bedridden.
By the age of 21, Alexandrina was totally unable to move.
For the rest of her life she would remain in bed, suffering constant and intense pain. Yet instead of falling into despair, she offered her suffering to Jesus for the conversion of sinners and for peace in the world. She would often say that her mission was to be โa victim soulโ united with Christโs Passion.
From 1938 to 1942, she experienced mystical visions of the Passion of Christ every Friday, reliving the sufferings of Jesus in her own body. Witnesses testified that during these moments she would mystically participate in Christโs agony.
Then something even more astonishing happened.
On October 13, 1942, Alexandrina stopped taking all food and drink completely. From that day forward, she lived only on the Holy Eucharist, receiving Holy Communion daily, for more than 13 years until her death on October 13, 1955.
Doctors and Church authorities closely observed her.
In 1943, she was admitted to the hospital in Foz do Douro for strict medical supervision for about 40 days. During this time, she was constantly monitored to determine whether she was secretly eating or drinking.
According to the medical reports, she consumed nothing and yet continued to live, without signs of dehydration or malnutrition that would normally lead to death.
Throughout these years, she promoted deep devotion to the Eucharist and called people to repentance, prayer, and consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. She repeatedly offered her suffering for the consecration of the world to Mary.
She died on October 13, 1955, the anniversary of the final apparition at Fรกtima, something she had prayed to live to see.
After a long investigation into her life and virtues, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 25, 2004.
Blessed Alexandrinaโs life remains a powerful testimony to the Catholic belief that the Holy Eucharist is truly the Body and Blood of Christ, spiritual nourishment capable of sustaining not just the soul, but in extraordinary cases, even the body by Godโs grace.

Here we go again. Yet another example of watch your kids every second when you're out shopping!
This mother noticed a very creepy man who was following them & when she confronted him, he had 2 accomplices & suddenly they tried taking pics of her kids! SCARY!๐
These men stepped up when a 6-year-old autistic boy was being bullied at his bus stop. They showed up, protected him, and made sure he knew he wasnโt alone.
THIS is what real community looks like! Absolute heroes. ๐๐ป๐บ๐ธโค๏ธ

Last night, I learned a big lesson about patriotism, compassion for your fellow man, and respect.....from an 8 year old little boy at McDonalds in Shamrock, Texas. Amongst french fries and chicken nuggets, in walks a man and his wife. The man was wearing a Vietnam Veteran cap that was adorned with several pins. I don't know that anyone noticed him when he walked in, nor did they notice his cap; but the eight year old little boy did. Even after he had asked his mom several times (three to be exact) if he could "go shake that guy's hand and tell him thank you for his service", she said no, for fear of disturbing his supper. But on the fourth plea, mom gave in; and the little boy marches right over to the gentleman and says, "sir, thank you for your service" and shakes his hand. The gentleman pauses, and with a cracking voice says, "young man, you are very welcome and thank YOU for noticing....you just made my day, maybe my whole week!" Everyone went back to their meal and before the boy left, the gentleman walked over and said, "son, I would like for you to have this." It was his 1st Calvary pin that he wore on his cap. The little guy says thank you and quickly takes his cap off and let's his uncle attach the pin to his cap and runs to show his mom and aunt what the veteran had given him. I don't know who was more overcome with emotion, the veteran, for someone noticing all that he had fought for; the little boy, for meeting "a real-life hero" or those that observed this interaction. All in all, it reminded me that no matter the place, no matter the time nor situation, honoring our soldiers past and present, and their unselfish sacrifice is paramount. So here's to all those that stepped up and shouldered the responsibility of protecting our country, there are no words big enough to say thank you."
โThis kid dialed 911 telling the dispatcher he was running away from home after an argument with his mother. This officer arrived talked to the kid and went into his bedroom which was empty outside of a deflated blowup bed. The young man essentially slept on the floor.
The officer encouraged the boy to stay home. The childโs mother facing a tough financial hardship. The officer left and soon returning with a bed, a television and a game system. The child was elated beyond words. Not all angels wear wings! Thank you officer!!!!โ โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ

Meet Satchel. He is the only employee here at Homewood Suites in Beaumont. The access road is underwater and I10 is shut down due to flooding. We canโt get in or go out. The hotel a mile from us is under water. Satchel has been here all night. His coworkers couldnโt make it to work so he stayed. He has manned the phones, answered each of our questions, ensured that we have had a hot cup of coffee or tea, and helped serve us a hot breakfast. He has handled this situation with grace, kindness, and a beautiful smile on his face.
Sometimes we ask ourselves why God allows things to happen but we are not designed to understand his ways. I do think that sometimes He allows things to happen so we can be His light and share the love of Christ with others. I have seen a big teddy bear of a man washing dishes and serving eggs, a little grandmother wiping down tables, and a man drenched from head to toe because he crossed i10 to deliver bottles of water to truck drivers who have been stranded on i10. We saw a helicopter land at the hotel adjacent to us where the parking lot is underwater. Someone had to be flown out. Iโm looking at my table and see a leftover bagel from breakfast, my hot cup of tea, my cozy socks, and dry tennis shoes. I am thankful for each of these things and for the peace in knowing that my family is safe and sound. Please pray for us and that we can each make it home safely to each of our families.
If you know Satchel, tell him he is our hero! He gave me permission to share his picture. What an example of how to handle yourself in a crisis! Goodness gracious! I will stay here next time just knowing that despite whatever happens, I will have someone putting our needs above his own needs. Thank you Satchel for taking care of us here at Homewood in Beaumont. ๐
Here is a sad update from Elsaโs dad, Kevin:
We are heartbroken to share news about Elsa.
This morning, she woke up with a drooping face and seemed confused. Adrienne took her to the childrenโs ER, where we were told that her leukemia has spread to her brain. The doctors said there is not much more they can do other than keep her comfortable.
She received platelets today and is now back home with us, where she should be. Right now, we are focusing on loving her, keeping her comfortable, and cherishing every moment we have together. The doctors believe her time may be very short, possibly around a week.
Please keep Elsa and our family in your thoughts and prayers. We are truly thankful for all the love and support you have shown us throughout this journey.
The doctor told me not to continue my pregnancy because my baby might be born with Down syndrome
My husband was sitting beside me, and he simply nodded.
That moment broke my heart. It felt like we were talking about a problem instead of a baby.
I stood up and walked out of the clinic.
I had no hospital bag, no support, and no idea what the future would look like.
I only had my babyโs heartbeat.
Somehow, that tiny heartbeat gave me the strength to keep going.
Today, that heartbeat is a 7-year-old girl with the brightest eyes and the sweetest personality.
Every evening, she runs to me, hugs me tightly, and shouts, โMama!โ
Sometimes she asks where her daddy is when she sees other children with their fathers.
I don't have an easy answer, because he chose to walk away before he ever got to know her.
But I know one thing: this little girl has filled my life with a kind of love I never knew was possible.
Her laughter, hugs, and little moments remind me every day that I made the right choice for us.
I walked out of that clinic with tears in my eyes and fear in my heart.
But I also walked away carrying the greatest gift of my life.
And today, she calls me Mama. โค๏ธ
