Qesser Zuhrah and Amy Gardiner-Gibson are on day 46 of their hunger strike. Heba Muraisi is on day 45. All are at a high risk of death.

In 1981 - the last time there was a hunger strike like this - Martin Hurson died after 46 days.

HMP Bronzefield has been refusing Qesser’s pleas to call an ambulance for imminent hospital treatment.

This week Jimmy Lai was convicted in Hong Kong after 5 years in incarceration and the Foreign Secretary summoned the Chinese Ambassador, called for Jimmy’s immediate release and made this robust statement. 

Yvette Cooper needs reminding:

- Jagtar is a British citizen;

- his detention is politically motivated;

- he has been tortured and in arbitrary detention in an Indian jail for more than 8 years;

- the Foreign Secretary @Jeremy_Hunt told his wife in April 2019 Jagtar would not get a fair trial;

- Jagtar was acquitted in the one case that came to court earlier this year; and

- the Indian authorities have been unable to produce any evidence to convict him.

@FCDOGovUK have known from the outset Jagtar, a British citizen, was tortured and would not get a fair trial in India. Therefore, it makes no sense for Yvette Cooper to keep waiting for the wheels of justice to slowly turn or wait for Jagtar’s conviction, like Jimmy Lai, before making a public fuss.

His father Lord Charlie Falconer very close friend of Tony Blair, was that the reason for his appointment, ignoring many experience MPs. Appeasement culture rather thn merit.
