NAOMI KLIEIN to SAM ALTMAN:
"...you ingested the entire written output of human civilization without consent, without compensation and without credit to build a system whose primary commercial application is eliminating the jobs of the people whose work you consumed.
You are not 'liberating human creativity' -- you are strip-mining it and selling it back at a markup while calling the theft 'training data'."
@alanfryermedia Parliament will resume. Nothing can be done before that. But proposals can b made. You should b excited u have a forward looking proactive leader who isn’t sitting on his butt doing nothing
@CarsonJerema No one knows what is being proposed yet, or the terms. Why is everyone so afraid of Canada expanding its horizons? Canada should at least debate/discuss what it all means
@MelissaLantsman Wow. You are a protectionist. News for you buddy, Canada is an open society that embraces free trade. If this means we can have even more prosperity & autonomy then don’t panic. 2 stand still is 2 b gobbled up.
@PrairiePersp Nothing wrong with being an associate. Creating strong economic ties but not wanting full membership. Sounds like it might be an opportunity and should at least be debated.
@cbcwatcher This news cast is frustrating. Canada is NOT ditching the USA. Canada can build trade with both. Why is everyone so afraid of Canada trying to improve its position in the world? What gives? Other nations are allowed to do it. Why does CAN have to stand still?
@Roman_Baber@MarkJCarney Dude, u r a chicken little. Nothing wrong with exploring the idea. It may be a good opportunity. A big market to expand into. I’m glad Canada is diversifying & being proactive. That’s how you grow.
@BaxterSaxster How absurd. He’s gonna keep blaming Ukraine until his buddy Vladimir gets what he want. America, take a look in the mirror. Where is your leadership right now?
@RayburnBev U r right. CAN can reimagine its role in the world. Redefine trade. Keep its IP instead of giving it away (I’m looking @ u A.I. developed on a gov research grant). We Can increase prosperity for all CANADians and take a larger role in creating peace around the world.
@MPelletierCIO Why? It’s promoting our prosperity. We can have strong ties with more than one ally. That benefits everyone. 2 stand still is 2 b left behind. We r imagining new possibilities that should have been discussed years ago.
@mferreriptbokaw Let’s get USA & EU on board. Let’s make Canada more prosperous. Let’s take back a bigger role in the world promoting peace and prosperity like we used to. With this attitude the sky is the limit.
@ztisdale CANADA’s future is what the Canadian people want. No one else. They decide. If they decide that close ties with EU & USA make Canada & the world a more prosperous place then that’s whatCAN does. Don’t box Canada in!
@brianlilley Don’t panic. He’ll explain it all & will b debated like free trade w in 80s.CAN is being proactive. Taking a bigger role like in past. 2 stand still is not an option. We are building out in new ways 2 the benefit of ALL allies & Canadians alike.
@MelissaLMRogers CAN is being proactive. This should not b seen as reactionary like u frame https://t.co/w40xB0h1y7 benefits everyone 2 have a strong CAN.Allies AND Canadians. The status quo leads 2a dead end &being left behind. We can take a bigger role in times of turmoil justlike we didin past
@BenWoodfinden It would get explained and voted on the same way free trade was back in Mulroney’s day. Canada needs to be proactive. Stronger economy and defence only helps ALL our allies and Canadians alike.
@donttreadonme4_ And how do you propose people get to the poles when drones and bombs are dropping overhead? & you think the locations of voting stations could be made public w/o Putin targeting them? Get real, bot.
@PapageorgioWV not true. The reality is complicated & there have been concessions on both sides as in any deal. fact is, once energy exports r removed( which USA gets discounted) trade is actually in their favour. Can thing be improved, yes deals can always b more balanced.
@lingosteve I’ve been saying this all along. The dairy subsidies r heavy b/c it’s corporate lobbying & industrial agriculture.Wisconsin produces more milk in a year than all of Canada. They want to dump product into CAN market & jeopardize food security. That’s not fair.
