Follow us to hear about the exciting things happening at the Molecular and Translational Biology (formerly BCB) Program @ MD Anderson UTHealth Graduate School!
How do shared protein structures across species reveal new insights into Huntington’s disease? 🔬 Molecular & Translational Biology program PhD student Stephen Farmer, mentored by Sheng Zhang, PhD, explores this in October’s Paper of the Month: https://t.co/dW7zca1BPQ #WeAreGSBS
How do our Molecular and Translational Biology program students unwind? Last week’s fall retreat: featuring science, of course, with a day full of powerful student and faculty flash talks, an inspiring keynote address by Distinguished Faculty Awardee Vihang Narkar, Professor at UTHealth Houston, along with kickball, basketball, barbeque, and a lot of laughs — all made possible by our student council: Stephen Farmer, Ester Lujan, Cara Biddle, Mirrah Bashir, and Sophia Huang! #WeAreGSBS! @MTBatGSBS
What happens when two therapies join forces? In his recent research published in Cell Reports Medicine, Molecular and Translational Biology Program PhD student Peyton High explored whether combining treatments combatted colorectal cancer more effectively. 🔬 Guided by Kendra Carmon, PhD, his work is summarized by Cancer Biology student Amanda Warner in September’s Paper of the Month: https://t.co/lG6I64nezk #cancerresearch @MTBatGSBS@PeytonsPhD@KendraCarmonLab
Congrats to our own Pham Hong Anh "Nikki" Cao on her newly awarded F99 fellowship from @theNCI!!
This award allows us to further investigate links between the regulation of lipid droplet homeostasis, #ferroptosis, and #prostatecancer progression.
