#dcim353mccormick I truly enjoyed taking this course. The work load was manageable, the content was relateable and interesting, and professor mccormick is a great teacher!
@rucatbahamondes I agree. One way work has changed in the digital age is the aspect that intercultural work environments have now become normal. This allows job and location flexibility, people from all around the country/world can work for the same comanies with new remote positions.
@Ishra_Chowdhury An important aspect of distinguishing the difference between the two is that sustaining innovations are tweaks and improvements to already established products, while disruptive innovations are completely new products and ideas.
I'm prettyyy sure there will be a question on the exam about the characteristics an innovation must have in order to be considered disruptive. These include audience, culture, speed, scope, and impact.

@DCIMisabellaL Definitely a relevant topic as I have begun to see VR systems more and more. My parents actually got my siblings a VR system for Christmas, so I might try it out after now hearing of your pleasant experience.
@rucatbahamondes This is an excellent topic especially considering how omnipresent vehicles with self-driving features have become. I don't think I'll ever fully be comfortable with the idea of my car driving for meπ
@juliaknight215 With the topic, you're bound to have plenty to talk about. The impact of emerging social media has had and continues to have such a drastic impacts on our lives.
I want to research WEB3 and accompanying technologies. These technologies are amongst some of the most trending topics right now with interesting concepts, such as the metaverse and NFTs, that seem to have potential. #DCIM353McCormick
@LeifEri41806529 This is definitely a social norm that has changed with the digital age. It also has its pros and cons. It makes information easily accessible for all, but at the same time, you can't trust that all of the information you are reading is true.
@juliaknight215 Most definitely, and it would be safe to categorize this change as disruptive considering it meets the criteria of disruptive tech: audience, culture, speed, scope, and impact.
@jkhuff115 I agree, so many people have even gone to the extent of quitting their 9-5 jobs and focusing solely on trading, investing, and creating NFTs. It's as if it's a career in and of itself.
Because it is now an expectation of people and because it is a completely new way of doing things that a vast amount of people have begun to do and accept, I consider this change disruptive.

A social norm or aspect of personal identity that has changed in the modern digital age is oversharing personal information. Before social media was introduced, people's lives were very private and you only knew what was doing on in someone's life if they personally told you.
In "The Facebook Era" Clara Shih writes, "Today not only is it socially acceptable to share aspects of our identity on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, but it has become expected that we do so".
