Another day, we mourn our own blood as a nation.
I cannot take leave of my country’s pain. Sudan is not just a profession. It is my homeland, my people, my tears, and my helplessness. How can I walk when hundreds of families are about to discover that the men who left home hoping to feed them will never return?
For almost four years, this war has robbed Sudanese families of the most basic human right: putting food on the table. Today, men ventured into the desert of their own country, risking their lives to find a few grams of gold to feed their children and buy medicine for their elderly parents. They went looking for survival but they died in Egyptian F-16 strikes on Sudanese soil.
I’m sure dying in a foreign airstrike was never part of their plan. They were supposed to come home with food, medicine, and perhaps a little smile on their famili faces. Instead, their families are left facing the fact of never seeing them again, staring at empty chairs waiting for men who will never walk through the doors again.
Less than four months ago, Egyptians killed Sudanese men in the same desert. Our so-called president @aftaburhan, told them not to cross the borders and cause problems. But Satellite imagery shows they bleed to death on their own land. His advisor said they were communicating with Egypt to ensure it never happened, so what! they killed a few poor Sudanese souls.
Egypt is an ally of the Sudanese Armed Forces, just like the UAE backs the RSF. But neither alliance gives anyone the right to spill Sudanese blood and expect us to look away.
We document the RSF’s crimes and the UAE’s role in supporting it. We will not look away when Sudanese people are being killed in Egyptian strikes, either.
Sudanese blood is Sudanese blood, no matter who spills it or who stands behind them.
Today, we will receive condemnations and expressions of concern. Tomorrow, the world will move on. Politicians will return to their calculations, military leaders to their wars, and those profiting from our suffering to their business. But Sudanese mothers will still be crying for their sons. Children will still be waiting for their fathers. And entire families will be left to carry a pain that no diplomatic statement can heal.
And what do I have to offer my people? Words. Investigations. Stories. I keep writing because silence would serve those responsible. But sometimes I hate my helplessness. I hate that I can document a tragedy and still cannot save a single life. I hate that I can make the world read about our pain but cannot make it stop.
I am sorry, my people. I wish my words could bring your loved ones home.
We are not asking for sympathy. We are asking not to be killed in our own country while trying to survive. We are asking not to be sacrificed for foreign interests and regional alliances. We are asking for the right to live, to feed our families, and to return home alive.
For almost four years, Sudan has bled while the world watched. Let this be another reason we refuse to let our dead become just another headline.
To every country that has had a hand in making my people’s blood spill, look at what has happened in recent months to those who believed they could pursue their interests at the expense of others and escape the consequences.
My people’s blood will haunt you. I promise you that. You may have the weapons, the money, the political alliances, and the power to shape today’s headlines. You may issue statements, deny responsibility, and return to business as usual. But you cannot erase the lives lost or the families whose futures you have helped destroy.
You may turn the page, but we are the ones left living with the consequences. Our mothers will remember. Our children will remember. Our nation will remember. And history will remember.

This on Burhan's reliance on the Islamists coincides w the (utterly cringeworthy) stunt of the matching set of SAF fanboys-cum-NCP kids at the Palace w Burhan and the coordinated campaign to let Bashir travel outside #Sudan for "treatment": a real mask-off moment

Allowing medical treatment for Bashir abroad when most Sudanese dont have access to medical care at home is not a good look. In fact, it is pretty insulting and doesn't suggest any signs of SAF evolution.

Had a constructive trilateral discussion with Mr. Mohi El Din Salem, Sudanese FM, & Mr. Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President on Arab & African affairs, on efforts to de-escalate tensions in Sudan & preserve it’s unity.
