Students in @MoravianU History of Native North America class doing #HandsOnHistory. After discussing the Paleolithic and Archaic periods in class, students experienced hunting the elusive cowdeer with atlatls.

Clay lab today! Students in #experimentalarchaeology started by making pinch pots and then played with the clay to make whatever they wanted. In April, we will pit fire the pottery and then we will find out who did and who did not get all the air bubbles out the clay. @MoravianU

@MoravianU #ExperimentalArchaeology students perform a use wear experiment. After cutting carrots, leather, and wood with obsidian flakes, they studied macro and micro wear to see patterns were diagnostic of use - 86% success for carrots but only 33% for wood. #HandsOnHistory
