As #Article18Alliance Chair, I condemn #Russia’s attacks on #Kyiv & #Kharkiv - more lives lost, including brave rescuers. Kyiv-Pechersk #Lavra is burning. How many more must die? How many churches destroyed? #Ukraine has the right to practice faith without fear. #StandWithUkraine
Today, #Russia attacked #Ukraine’s greatest Christian shrine with missiles—the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Russia has destroyed hundreds of Ukrainian churches and has no intention of stopping its genocide of Ukrainians. Russia is evil, and it must be decisively stopped by force.
Today, I had an opportunity to meet with several members of the US Congress and personally thank them for their consistent and effective support for the people of #Ukraine in their struggle for freedom, independence, and democracy. I presented the report on #Russia’s war crimes.
I'm honored to witness the #Washington State Senate adopt Resolution 8675 in support of the people of #Ukraine on the eve of the 4th anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion. I am especially grateful to Senator Jesse Salomon, who initiated this bill: https://t.co/cEBGMX6NFR
Welcome! The special session at the 2026 IRF Summit will examine how the Kremlin uses the Russian Orthodox Church to legitimize its war against #Ukraine, undermine Ukrainian identity, and suppress dissent.
Announcing an #IRFSummit2026 affiliated session: “The Kremlin’s Use of the Russian Orthodox Church in the War Against Ukraine,” Sponsored by the @NEDemocracy.
This session examines how the Kremlin uses the Russian Orthodox Church to legitimize its war against Ukraine, undermine Ukrainian identity, and suppress dissent. Speakers will address repression in Russia and occupied territories, persecution of religious practices and beliefs, and the human rights costs of making the church subservient to an autocratic government, with implications for accountability and religious freedom advocacy.

"This is the time for #Ukraine to act." It is also time for NATO to act. And it is time for the EU and the US to act together! I believe that the united efforts of the Western democratic world can stop #Russia’s unjust war, restore international law, and bring back lasting peace.
🚨 "...Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act. In any event, I wish both Countries well. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them. Good luck to all!" - PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
I went to war-torn #Ukraine to stand with @ZelenskyyUa and religious leaders: 652 sacred places in rubble, 67 faith leaders killed. And yet their spirit endures. Ukrainians must be free to worship without fear. Truth and love must prevail over lies and hatred. #FoRB#IRFBA
I’m excited to be part of the @LYN_Community team behind the 2025 Kraków CCRL Summit—a platform for exploring best practices and exchanging experiences in implementing cross-cultural religious literacy initiatives worldwide to build more cohesive, pluralistic, peaceful societies.
I want to shed light on "root causes" of the war, expose Russian war crimes, and clearly name their accomplices—some Russian religious leaders. My chapter in War in Ukraine focuses on how #Russia uses religion to justify the genocide of #Ukraine's people: https://t.co/DMISYoOEKS
The worst atrocities are taking place far from the reach of cameras—within #Ukraine's territories occupied by Russian forces—in prisons, torture chambers, and even private homes subjected to raids by #Russia's soldiers and FSB (KGB) agents. Read more: https://t.co/8SlxK0cp2i 2/2
This article in Church Times serves as another reminder of Russia’s war crimes in #Ukraine. The horrifying destruction of churches and religious landmarks is merely the visible face of the genocidal war that #Russia is waging against Ukrainians as a nation and ethnic group. 1/2
I am happy to work with Dr. @DennisRHoover at @lyn_community. His deep knowledge and experience are invaluable not only to the young students he recently lectured but also to the broader effort of promoting religious freedom and social cohesion in societies worldwide.
This week, Dr. @DennisRHoover delivered a lecture during the Franz Lecture Series at @gordoncollege , offering a bold new approach to religious diversity: covenantal pluralism. Instead of indifference or division, it calls for:
1️⃣ Freedom of religion/belief and equal treatment – ensuring individuals and communities can practice their faith freely and in an environment of fairness for all.
2️⃣ Character development – fostering virtues like respect, humility, reciprocity, and empathy.
3️⃣ Cross-cultural religious literacy – engagement across deep differences and developing knowledge of oneself, the "other," and the potential of practical collaboration.
A timely message for our divided world!

Not only all prisoners of war must be exchanged and released, but #Russia must also return all abducted Ukrainian children and release hundreds of civilians from Russian prisons in the occupied territories of #Ukraine, including prisoners of conscience. 2/2
I am happy to amplify before the U.S. Senate the voice of millions of civilians in #Ukraine, including church members and religious leaders, who suffer daily from #Russia's terror. This war must not only end, but justice must be brought. 1/2
Today at 2.30 pm ET, the US Helsinki Commission will hold a hearing on #Belarus and its complicity in #Russia’s crimes in #Ukraine. 🔴 You can watch the live broadcast here: https://t.co/8EMY4wM7De
Discover how LYNC is taking a unique approach in Central Asia, shifting from simply documenting challenges to fostering cross-cultural religious literacy and collaboration in #Kazakhstan and #Uzbekistan. This is covenantal pluralism in action 👉https://t.co/EsiqbZtOPY

An excellent audience gathered at the @IrfSecretariat & @LYN_Community event in connection with the International Ministerial Conference on FoRB in #Berlin. I was pleased to present the latest results of my research on developing positive indexes for assessing religious freedom.
