I think one of the biggest positives of moving to NCR has been on my savings. Income has remained stable while my expenses are almost 75% down. Not like I wasn’t comfortable in BOM (and I can’t wait to get back there now that I have a permanent address there) but the savings actually have been substantial.
And this time I have channeled most of it to my liquid investments rather than long term one. And I have paid like 20% of debt too(though it was good debt but just felt like paying it off). Idea to build a significant portion of money in short term assets.
Major focus on long term investments will begin again post the FY. I’ll get back to equity post this heavily once I’m done here.
Wanted this to be the year of savings. Short ones never had a chance in my portfolio and I think I have allocated a lot of money in the long term ones in last 3-4 years. And got the real estate thing done as well.
Also I sat this with @QuirkyLogic a few months ago, which I had planned with her some years ago. She has also helped me and I have kept bugging her( even in her vacations and holidays). She is the best( and also she is charging me less than a packet of peanuts). But I think I need to take more of her advice and keep my madness at the bay. Woh na sunne ki aadat bhari pad sakta hai
And then there is the @foldmoney_ app. Didn’t even know my expenses before and I have spent a lot of time in it now. The tagging is fantastic. And the app is great. Very well done and recommended. It’s time I took their paid subscription as well.
So not all things about NCR is bad. Kind of like it right now…

Let’s be clear:
Your PF was never an emergency fund.
It’s your retirement safety net.
If you rely on PF for liquidity, you don’t have a financial plan, you have a ticking time bomb.
