"A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops." Certainly true of George Hillocks, whose memorial was on Sat.

I've been thinking about George Hillocks all day today. He's always on my shoulder whispering in my ear whenever I teach anything to anyone.

George Hillocks died today. A real giant in literacy education. He'll be missed, but his legacy will continue through his students' work.
