Some of us were still lost and others started to get it, but everyone wanted to add more heads or more legs. They wanted to argue that a sheep without a head was still a sheep. #truth But we only counted the live ones on this farm. We finally had to work it out in Math Congress.

8 heads and 22 feet = 30 animals We’re starting at a place where we see 2 numbers and just add them. During Math Congress we talked about why this isn’t reasonable and we’ll try again tomorrow. #buildingthinkingclassrooms #math #secondgrade

We started #buildingthinking #classrooms in math today. Groups worked at vertical surfaces to see how many squares were in the picture. Then we did a gallery walk and revised our work.
