🧵 1/3 | On 3 May, Education Malaysia in Perth and Politeknik Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (POLISAS) jointly hosted a Knowledge Sharing Forum themed "Tracing & Preserving Malaysian Architectural Heritage", bringing Malaysian academic & industry expertise to Western Australia.
2/3 | The forum featured two sessions: "Three Souls, One Identity" by Ar. Amalina Lily Khoo, and a presentation on Building Information Modelling & Laser Scanning for heritage buildings by Dr. Julia Md. Tukiran and Ts. Rosmiza Wira of POLISAS.
The session aimed to foster meaningful engagement between the Consular Corps and leading academic institutions on emerging issues relating to the growing role of AI, particularly its implications for the education and finance sectors. 🇲🇾 🇦🇺
Initiated by the Consulate General of Malaysia in collaboration with the Asia Centre of UWA, the Consulate General of Malaysia joined members of the Western Australia Consular Corps for an AI Educational Session hosted by the Asia Centre of the University of Western Australia.

1/3 | On 14 April, the Consul General was hosted aboard KD Lekir by Commanding Officer Commander Megat Mohamad Sofwan, the Royal Malaysian Navy vessel's first port call to Perth since 1991.
2/3 | KD Lekir arrived at Fleet Base West as part of the Malaysia-Australia Training Exercise (MASTEX), a biennial training exercise that reflects the enduring partnership in bilateral maritime cooperation between the RMN and RAN, following an earlier port call in Melbourne.
° On 16 April 2026, Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Anthony Albanese MP, was accorded an official welcoming ceremony at the Perdana Putra Complex, Putrajaya, followed by a four-eye meeting with Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim.
° Both Prime Ministers witnessed the exchange of MoU on Strategic Halal Red Meat Partnership between the Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia (JAKIM) and Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF).The ceremony was attended by Cabinet ministers, delegation members from both sides and senior government officials of both countries.
° Both leaders also signed the Joint Statement on Energy Security, which underscored the shared commitment of Malaysia and Australia to strengthen cooperation in ensuring open, stable and resilient energy supplies. Both countries also committed to promoting open and rules-based trade in energy, enhancing the resilience of energy supply chains, and deepening cooperation in supporting the energy transition and the adoption of renewable energy resources.
° A joint press conference was held for both leaders to convey the outcomes of their discussions. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across areas of mutual interests especially in the energy sector. Both leaders also raised concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East and its implications on regional security, energy infrastructure and global economic stability.
