My mom used to say if you're showing cleavage always wear a necklace or pendant to give people a chance to say "cool necklace" if you catch them staring. This lesson applies to everything in life-- always give people an out. When people feel embarrassed, even if it's their fault, they subconsciously hate you
@kareem_carr@LucLapierre8 What if the coin flipping machine also happened to have consciousness, completely separate from and unable to control the coin-flipping part?
@langofmind i feel like this has something to do with intensity decreasing with the square of distance (distance between the speaker and the listener), while frequency and duration are less influenced by that distance, but can't really put my finger on it
@langofmind qualia i understand, but i don't get how thoughts and feelings are not empirically observable to others. What happens when 2 people genuinely talk and person A changes their mind on an issue? Does it still makes sense to say Person A and B's thoughts are empirically unobservable?
