@aakashgupta But even that's not fair. Because you're talking about stock market returns, which aren't linear. So you really need to run a Monte Carlo with 7% average returns but annual variance. On that, the median outcome is nearly identical with ~46% of trials favoring installments.

@aakashgupta This analysis is flawed. It assumes a return on the lump sum fully through 60 years but the weekly installments never earn a return. It should be assumed that the installments are also put into an index fund earning the same return. Lump sum still better but not nearly 18x.
