KIRBY SMART ON BEING GREAT
"There's one way. The right way. The hard way. There are no shortcuts.
When the alarm goes off...if you wanna be a really good player, you're gonna get up & go to class.
You've gotta do something somebody else isn't willing to do."

Rick Pitino shares a masterclass on teamwork and selflessness.
"Regardless of how you play, when you play for the name on the front, the back prospers."
"When you play for the name on the back, you never prosper. All you are is guys with good stats. That's it."
Stats don't win championships - teams do.
"Play for the front. Give everything you have for the front name."
"Do everything - from diving on the floor, to blocking shots, to setting screens, to playing together. Play for the name on the front."
Great teams play for each other. They know connected teams achieve more.
"The name on the front is gonna bring big rewards for the name on the back. I guarantee it."
"Give it everything you have for this name."
The formula is simple: Put the team first, and everything else follows.
Play for the front. The back will take care of itself.

The fastest way to get from a ‘season of adversity’ to a ‘season of prosperity’ is to lock in on what is really true.

Throwback to around 2012 at the NHLPA Allstate All-Canadians Hockey Camp 🇨🇦
This was part of a series of exercises that @M_Nichol , Gary Roberts and I put together for high-level hockey athletes looking to build a serious foundation.
The Overhead Dumbbell Split Squat is an outstanding prep phase movement — especially for athletes with a solid training age.
Yes, the prime movers are the hips and legs…
But don’t underestimate what’s happening upstairs.
When done properly, this drill challenges:
• Core stability
• Shoulder integrity
• Total body control
• Force transfer from ground up
Coaching cues matter:
✔️ Proper distance between front and rear foot
✔️ Engage the core before you move
✔️ Full shoulder + elbow extension overhead
✔️ Control both the lift and the descent
Your body should move as one unit — no leaks, no compensation.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Another outstanding #HockeyDay by @Sportsnet and especially @Ron_MacLean who brings it to life.
Now more than ever I appreciate Ron’s effort to highlight all of the unique and amazing people and places that make our country so great! 🍁
Wayne Dyer’s orange metaphor just hit me like a gut punch (47-sec clip):
Squeeze an orange as hard as you can… what comes out?
Orange juice.
Every single time. No exceptions. Never apple juice. Never grape juice.
Why?
Because that’s what’s inside.
Now look in the mirror:
Life squeezes you — betrayal, criticism, loss, pressure, cruelty.
What spills out of you?
Rage that burns your chest?
Resentment that poisons your nights?
Fear that paralyzes you?
Self-pity that drowns you?
Bitter venom you didn’t even know you carried?
Don’t point at the person squeezing.
They didn’t put that darkness in you.
They just pressed — and it poured out.
If what comes out hurts you…
If it poisons your relationships…
If it keeps you small and angry…
You can change what’s inside.
47-sec clip — raw, tear-jerking, soul-shaking truth 👇
When life has squeezed you hardest, what ugly, painful thing came pouring out that you never wanted to see?
And what poison in your heart are you finally ready to let go of — right now?
Under President Trump’s leadership, common sense, scientific integrity, and accountability have been restored to federal food and health policy.
For decades, the Dietary Guidelines favored corporate interests over common-sense, science-driven advice to improve the health of Americans.
That ends today.
The new Dietary Guidelines call for prioritizing high-quality protein, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains—and avoiding highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates.
For @Sportsnet
I spoke to Daniel Alfredsson and Tim Stutzle about the bond they've formed on and off the ice.
Alfie explains why he pushed Stutzle to change his stick tape.
"If a Hall of Famer tells you something, probably a lot of it is right."
