Ah yes. The Sri lankan dream to buy a tesla. We don't have seperate taxes for American cars. So that begs the question why we still buy cars from other countries at equally high taxes? Maybe it's the fact American cars aren't attractive in general, unreliable, lack of support etc

Cruises are terrible. It's just mass crowds with very little money coming in becaus passengers have all their expenses already paid for on the ship. Not to mention cruises are terrible for the environment.

SL is better off looking for alternatives sources.

Very obviously hotels and tour operators are getting a portion of the tickets. I rmr trying to book Ella train last year, within 10 to 15 mins all the avaliable trains booked.

to take all paid leave you are entitled to. Many cannot do that due to management who overwork and look down on people who take leave.

Public holidays are sometimes the only time people can take a break from work. Paid leave is meaningless when managers constantly overwork their staff and look down and even restrict people from taking paid leave. So until that culture changes, public holidays are needed.

Issuing 4.7 million TINs is not an adequate measure of tax compliance. Default taxes owed to IRD surpassed Rs 1 trillion as at end 2023. #LKA's focus should be addressing tax evasion among high income earners and corporates.

Adding millions of inactive tax files that do not generate any tax revenue is an administrative burden for the IRD, taking away limited resources that can be otherwise used to address priority problems.
