@l_stone I received one of those calls and was appalled. If Doug Ford’s robo call urging me , for the sake of the city ,to vote for his chosen candidate was not illegal it certainly is unethical .
Universities used to build housing on their land to house students and faculty - not to make money, but to ensure a viable university community.
But they have subsequently embraced a revenue generating model for everything (look at what happened to food services - now corporate and profiting from students) and they decided that housing was a cost, not a revenue stream, so they stopped building.
This insular approach is inconsistent with the broader objectives of the academy, but not only that, @MikePMoffatt has extensive data demonstrating the extent to which doing so has fuelled our rental housing affordability crisis......
Universities have an opportunity to strengthen their experience and quality of life offering for faculty and staff, and to be much much better citizens. Build housing!
(And for any university administrator reading this, call me, Markee can help. Our limited dividend model works perfectly in this instance.)
Many thousands out at the Toronto Enough is Enough rally. Absolutely huge show of force from unions and community groups in opposition to Doug Ford's big business agenda. #EnoughIsEnoughON#canlab#onpoli
It’s time to drown out the hate with our love.
Please show your support for the individuals in our community who are being harassed, intimidated, and threatened.
Let’s fill Twitter with some rainbows tonight!!

Congratulations to @OntarioHealthC for the outstanding results of its citizens' referendum.
Message for @fordnation and The 68:
Every ballot here is an Ontario citizen.
In a democracy "there exists no higher rank or title than that of citizen"
It was an honour to join @OntarioHealthC and my fellow MPPs to tell the Ford government that Ontarians are ready to fight for their public healthcare.
400,000 people voted in the OHC's healthcare referendum and were overwhelmingly against Ford's privatization scheme.

Tomorrow is the big day! Our public healthcare system impacts every single one of us & our loved ones, neighbors, & communities. Please vote, volunteer, & donate to help us save our public hospitals on Fri, May 26th and Sat, May 27th https://t.co/GpU69aCVbq
We are building our vote count by 1000s every day. We will build the referendum as big as we have the resources to do so. Everyone can make a real difference here. Do you have a few hours to volunteer at a voting station on Fri, May 26 or Sat, May 27 ?https://t.co/GpU69aCnlS
New lawn sign! It's shocking how many hospital ORs sit empty on the weekends and nights while patients sit on waitlists. The solution? Invest in public healthcare, hire more nurses and staff at decent wages and get those ORs open. @OntarioHealthC#healthcare4all 🔗 in bio
Health Coalitions across Ontario launched a major fightback today:
The Coalition is mounting a province-wide referendum to stop the Ford Government’s (@fordnation's) Privatization of Our Public Hospitals.
Here's how it is going to work & how everyone can help:

“Jesus rose again in 3 days. Let’s be honest. I could have gotten it done in 2”
“He had a Good Friday. I would make it great. A great Friday. Perhaps even TGI Fridays.”
This is excellent writing 🤣😂
