Spanish actor Javier Bardem has called for a boycott of Adidas, sharing an Instagram Story urging his followers to stop supporting the sportswear company.

The actor shared the message in solidarity with Palestine as Adidas faces growing global boycott calls over its decision to feature Shalev Biton, an Israeli military veteran who lost his leg during Israel’s 2021 assault on Gaza, in a campaign promoting its “Single Shoe Service” in Israel.

Pro-Palestine activists and social media users have criticized the choice, pointing out that thousands of Palestinians, including many children in Gaza, have suffered life-changing amputations as a result of Israel’s ongoing genocide and previous assaults on the enclave.

Activists have also questioned whether Palestinians who have lost limbs receive comparable attention and support, particularly given that their injuries are the result of Israeli attacks.
