In 2022: 1.55. Below replacement level for nearly every group measured.

Education is the steepest divide. Women with no schooling average 2.01 kids. Women with a completed college degree: 1.19.

A 41% gap, wider than any racial or religious split.

By race: white women have the lowest fertility rate of any major group at 1.35.

Black women are at 1.59, and brown (mixed-race) women, Brazil's largest group, at 1.68. East Asian-descended women have the lowest rate of any group measured, 1.22.

Only one group remains above replacement level: indigenous women, at 2.84.

Religion splits sharply too. Evangelical women have the highest fertility rate measured, 1.74. Spiritist women have the lowest, 1.01.

Surprisingly, women with no religion (1.47) have nearly the same rate as practicing Catholics (1.49).
