@CuriousBunnie12 We don’t love the idea of daycare and are doing crazy things to make that never happen, luckily in part because I have the kind of job that makes that kind of money, but it’s often a reductive “women don’t make real money” conversation that is very much my “bean soup” problem.
@CuriousBunnie12 This stuff frustrates me because there’s so many variables. My struggle is I make near double my husband with a higher ceiling, so from a numbers perspective it would be a huge hit. Practically, it doesn’t make sense for me to be the one to drop work :/
@w0rm_face I’m not big on salons but I do like the frivolity aspect of sitting around and taking the extra time to paint my own nails and listen to a podcast. It means I had time to spare and not use my hands. Keeps them strong enough to keep long and my husband likes scratches 🤷♀️
@CuriousBunnie12 Honestly this discourse has saved my mental health. I was starting to let myself get swept up a bit in the “oh no am I going to do things wrong” and this is just so crazy that no, I’m just not going to question anything and just do it my way.
@alt1na1 I honestly have too much junk and want to fully clean out and capsule wardrobe myself but I’m too pregnant to know what’s going to fit pp so I have to wait. My body has changed a ton over the last 10 years and I held on to too much as it did.
Probably can’t breastfeed 100%, probably can’t have a natural birth, have to get mammograms and ultrasounds every year and bloodwork every three months for aggressive breast cancer recurrence. Yes I have a healthy baby, which is a miracle, but tonight I just want to whine.
Very disappointed in my own body tonight. Baby is transverse and I’m just not expecting him to move at this point. Feels like butt down in pelvis. I really, really wanted to avoid a c-section. I’ll find out this week if he’s got enough room to flip.
I felt like I “deserved” this to go my way so even though I’ve been saying “it’s okay if it’s a c section” I really haven’t meant it fully. That makes two major surgeries in a year and a half, and as a formerly healthy person I’m just frustrated.
@holyhomemaking I checked my insurance after a year of cancer treatment… I like to say my breast is worth a million dollars (technically my life but it’s funnier this way).
@goblinodds Luckily I learned how to do them cause that’s how I caught mine, but I also think I would have missed it if it wasn’t for the pain from the tumor! I’m a big fan of knowing how to perform self exams, even though I was bad at doing them on a schedule I knew the technique.
@nocertainlynot I went through this, happily not while married but you bet I buckled down and refuse to be in that position again. I tried being the “cool girl” and it just burns you.
@alyssaleann Babylist for public registry (since you can link out to other sites), but make the others (Amazon/Target) just for yourself for the discounts near the end (15% on BL/Amazon, using it right now so it might have been 20% before but not as good anymore).
@cybelethebest Baby soon, and my husband’s attitude is “I’m not working manual labor and you’ve got to be alive enough to take care of the baby when I’m not here.” I’m still going to do a lot of the night shift time, but I’m going to get some actual rest too (man plans, God laughs but still)
@CuriousBunnie12 Yeah this one stinks. Especially early days, babies eat like every two hours (just eating!), that impacts sleep like a lot. The rage at you is weird. 50 foot hole versus 20 foot hole, no one has a shovel to dig out. Doesn’t mean the person in a 20 foot hole isn’t in a hole.
@alt1na1 Trying to plan not to consume phone slop, also don’t want to be distracted and miss cute baby moments (I do not know how cute babies are or how many I will be able to have so I do not know how much newborn time I get) but also do not want to overthink for 14 hours a day
@CuriousBunnie12 “Spiritual polygamy” cause I went bald no-wig during chemo. Husband and I had matching hairdos! Though I was gonna get a pink wig but never actually did, missed my shot :(
@ProLifeLiz I waited about 1.5ish months after my SIL had her first to announce our first was coming. So we knew when we went to see them, but wanted to give them a buffer.
@MargaretStusa@LadyNimby@hollowearthterf This is exactly it for me. Trying to “retire” me so our kids can have the same experience he had, felt like it was a huge thing his mom did for their family. And he’s the oldest so was hands-on for a lot of little kids and knows it’s work.
