Doctors will always tell you not to self medicate, don’t use Herbs, go and see a doctor when you don’t feel good, etc. You will now carry yourself to the hospital and the people that are meant to attend to you will still complain that you’re frequenting the hospital too much like their services are probono.

Some will be obviously reluctant to attend to you, some will stylishly throw snide comments at you, all because you’re using an HMO.

It needs to stop please.

@106_36_52 If you are using HMO, ensure you download your package and read through them, you'll find out there are a lot of services the hospital will ask you to pay for while your HMO has paid.

Not related, but my mum did something in 2022 that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. 😂 She has asked for forgiveness oo, but the memory is still fresh.

She went for Itikaf that year, and one of those days I took jendol sardine bread to her because she was craving it. She told me to wait because she wanted me to meet the Chief Imam. I already knew she wanted to talk about “husband matter,” but I didn’t expect what happened next.

This woman started crying in front of the Imam and begged him to help find me a husband. 😭 Kai! I have never been that embarrassed in my life.

The Imam politely asked her to excuse us. Then he asked for my age, and when I told him, he was surprised because I was still young. He told me not to let what my mum said get to me. That during their time women my age are done having kids.He said his first child was around my age and was doing her masters in Qatar.

He even asked if I genuinely wanted him to introduce me to a brother. He did eventually. The guy was actually a good person and we still talk once in a while, but our mentalities didn’t align, so we just remained friends.
I called family meeting for my mum then 🤣🤣 My siblings almost finished her that day.

I was talking to my Bro Toyyib @taadelodun this morning and we explored the dynamics of living abroad as an average Nigerian. UK is working system where you work and can comfortably pay your bills as long as you keep working. But if you miss 2 weeks of work, there is a problem. About 70% of your income goes to rent. The bills never stop, so most people's lives revolve around work. How do you afford to not work?

Some couples don't spend enough time with each other because husband is doing day shift and wife is doing night shift. Toyyib told me about a couple who only see each other on Friday and they live in the same house. Before the man gets home, the wife has left for shift. Before wife gets home, husband has left for shift. Friday is the only time, they get to actually meet.

In a system like UK, the kids belong to the government - whether they are born in the UK or not is irrelevant. You don't have power to discipline them. Even their teachers do not. Amidst this hustle you are doing, the system is raising your kids.

You are doing all these and still committed to family and friends back home. People don't even celebrate Christmas and New Year with family because the shift that day gets you twice your normal pay. What they do is take pictures with pyjamas for social media and rush to shift. It is really not easy for many people. UK would make you realize that a month is short because bills are paid monthly. You do all these and years pass, your children leave the house and you are still not rich.

I don't want to make this too long, but it is an interesting comparative reality.

Hmm… after serving his billionaire father for 49 years, the son is still using the old man to create content. That's serious.

The day my dad told me he resigned from the Nigerian Railway because he realized the pay wasn't making sense, he immediately set up his own electrical workshop.

Today, at 88 years old, he is still enjoying the fruits of his labour. He believed in building something for himself instead of relying solely on a salary.

Sometimes, self-employment is the way.
