Make yourself useful. Solve people’s problems. Put yourself in a position that is vital to your organization’s goals. Take joy in the effort. Become fascinated with getting better. If it’s not fun, rearrange things to add fun. Be curious. If you’re a leader, create more leaders.
@AlexanderBrunk@lymanstoneky I was fine with that, honestly, and in fact enjoyed what Demandred turned out to be in the end
but I get people being annoyed
@AlexanderBrunk@lymanstoneky The WOT definitely bogged down in the middle. I gave it up for a LONG while, but finally went back and finished it this year. Sanderson’s work to bring it to a conclusion was masterfully done.

(Me): well, yes. to deal with that we created the "translation lookaside buffer"
It’s not even just the main cast; we’ve also lost Lorne (Andy Hallett), Doyle (Glenn Quinn), Sweet (Hinton Battle), and a bunch more. So many actors big and small gone 😔
The Expanse got cancelled. It had a strong dedicated fan base. The fans rallied together and saved it from cancelation to get the series finished. The Expanse is widely considered the best sci-fi show in recent modern history.
Stargate fans can do this too. Save Stargate.
I think one of the healthiest things a person can do is become easy to delight. To still stop for weird clouds and dogs wearing bandanas and the smell of garlic cooking somewhere down the street. The world already has enough cynicism. Be the person who still points at the moon.
