At last night's Inn meeting, newly-appointed 5th Circuit Court of Appeals judge Irma Ramirez is congratulated by her former colleagues: current federal magistrate judges David Horan, Renee Toliver, and Rebecca Rutherford, along with retired federal magistrate judge Bill Sanderson
The Senate just confirmed Judge Irma Ramirez's appointment to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge Ramirez has been a longstanding member of the Inn's leadership team. Congratulations, Judge! #appellatetwitter
Every year, the @DallasBarAssoc honors 1 judge as "jurist of the year" and 1 attorney as "trial lawyer of the year." This year, both honorees are Mac Taylor members! Congratulations to our colleagues Justice Maricela Moore Breedlove (@Marimoore162) and Ophelia Camina (@OCamina)!
The Mac Taylor Inn of Court is a long-time supporter of Bar None - raising funds to provide scholarships to diverse law students. Incoming president @JudgeHoffman, outgoing president @apellatelaw, and membership committee co-chair Christine Leatherberry enjoyed last night's show.
The Inn elected the following new officers: Judge Martin Hoffman as president, Camille Knight as counselor, Brian Shaw as treasurer, and Judge Rebecca Rutherford as secretary. Afterwards, Judge Hoffman presented outgoing president Chad Ruback with a plaque honoring his service

As part of the Inn's mentoring program, Judge Martin Hoffman moderated an outstanding panel discussion about judges' likes and dislikes. I've never seen a panel discussion featuring so many judges and justices!
I was honored to assist @JudgeHoffman in planning the annual joint meeting of the 11 North Texas @InnsOfCourt. Around 400 people attended, including around 50 judges. Here we are congratulating Hon. Rodney Gilstrap, the Chief Judge of the E. Dist. of TX, on an award he received.
Inn meetings always begin with a toast to the Constitution. This month's toast was given by Judge-Elect Maria Aceves, who is a co-chair of the Inn's mentoring committee.
At this week's Inn meeting, @JudgeHoffman swore-in Alexa Balderrama, who recently passed the Texas bar exam. Congratulations, Alexa! Alexa was a student member of the Inn while a 3L at @SMULawSchool last year and is now an associate at the @GodwinBowman law firm.
Opal Lee (known as "the grandmother of Juneteenth") and her granddaughter Judge Renee Toliver spoke at last week's Inn meeting. Their conversation was inspiring. Check out the video: https://t.co/XbnEqlblke
At our next Inn meeting, Judge Renee Toliver will be interviewing her grandmother, Dr. Opal Lee. Dr. Lee, who will turn 96 shortly before the Inn meeting, is credited with convincing Congress to make Juneteenth a federal holiday. She is a nominee for this year's Nobel Peace Prize
Tom Mayo (@proftommayo), a past president and long-time member of the Mac Taylor Inn, has been named interim dean of SMU Dedman School of Law (@SMULawSchool). Congratulations, Tom!

This afternoon, I spoke about preservation of error at a State Bar of Texas CLE (@TexasBarCLE). Speakers earlier in the day included Judge Maricela Moore (@Marimoore162), Douglas Lang, and Krisi Kastl (@KrisiKastl). I enjoyed hearing all of them speak!
Every year, the Mac Taylor Inn recognizes one outstanding member by inducting him or her into the honorary Serjeant's Inn. This year, our honoree is Judge Jane Boyle. Inn president Chad Ruback (@appellatelaw) presented Judge Boyle with a certificate commemorating this honor.
Court of appeals justices, district court judges, and county court judges shared practice tips with Inn members over lunch at the courthouse today. Thank you to Judge Martin Hoffman (@JudgeHoffman), Maria Aceves, and Brian Shaw for having organized this great event!

At last night's Inn meeting, David Coale (@600camp) and Chad Baruch (@VoteChadBaruch) argued Marbury v. Madison. Judge Maricela Moore (@Marimoore162) presided over the argument. Inn president Chad Ruback (@appellatelaw) was honored to introduce the program. #appellatetwitter
