My grandfather doesn’t believe in retirement homes. He says they’re too expensive and the food is bad. Instead, he’d rather check into a luxury hotel near the beach.

When we asked him about the cost, he said, “If I stay at a nursing home, it’s $200 a day and no one visits. If I stay at this hotel, it’s $100 a day. I get room service, a pool, and my grandkids visit me every weekend because they want to go to the beach. Plus, if I die in the lobby, the hotel manager will actually be upset.”

At the nursing home, they just call it ‘Tuesday’.

A letter to our Senators and Representatives.

Gentlemen,
I am a 64-year-old American that has worked and paid taxes since I was fifteen years old. I have never taken any type of handout from anyone, including the US government. After 49 years of working, I have decided to retire, at least partially. According to you, it’s “early  retirement”.  I don’t consider 49 years of working, “early”. Had I been a government employee I could have retired 29 years ago, or had I been a senator, I could have retired, what… 39 years ago? with full retirement pay and free healthcare for life.
Because I retired before reaching my “full retirement age”; which is decided by you, I have a reduced Social Security payment, which you refer to as a “benefit”. I see it as a return of my money that I have paid in for 49 years. This reduced payment is not enough to live on. The payment at full retirement age is not enough to live on. I have to work some, to supplement my income, but low and behold I can only earn a certain amount (which is still not enough to live on) and then you start docking my Social Security.
Apparently, I earned too much at some point because I just received a letter from the SSA stating that my next three SSA payments will be cut in half, and the real kicker is I still “owe” $38.00. I can’t work more to make up the difference because I will only be further penalized.
It is extremely infuriating, as an American citizen, to be treated this way. Look at the amount of fraud, look at the number of people, many of whom have never paid a dime into the system, receiving free benefits from the government. Look at the billions paid to and on behalf of illegal immigrants. All I want is the money I paid in and a chance to retire in peace.

My wife just got home from a baby shower and I am actually crying, this is the peak of "Main Character" delusion.

She’s at this party for a girl who is, how do I put this, the "Live, Laugh, Love" type.
The mom to be stands up and announces she’s giving the baby a "spiritual" name she picked up while backpacking in Southeast Asia.

She says the name is *’Chai-Yo’* (or something similar) and tells the whole room it means "Pure Soul of the Morning Mist." She’s getting all emotional, everyone is clapping, it’s a whole vibe.

My wife is sitting in the back, choking on her cupcake.

Why? Because my wife actually grew up there.
She leans over to her friend and whispers: “That doesn’t mean Morning Mist, That’s literally the word for 'Fried Chicken.' She is naming her daughter Fried Chicken.”

The moral dilemma was real. Does she let this kid grow up as a literal snack, or does she kill the vibe?

My wife chose chaos, She waited for a lull in the conversation and gently asked, “Oh, like the street food?”

The silence was DEAFENING. The mom to be turned a shade of red I didn't know humans could achieve.

She tried to argue that her "guide" told her otherwise, but the damage was done. The "Morning Mist" era ended right there.

The party ended 20 minutes later and now my wife is officially banned from the group chat.

If you're going to use a culture as an aesthetic, at least make sure you aren't naming your firstborn after a $5 bucket of wings. 😭🍗
