Abu Asab was a Fatah member serving a 25-year sentence for attacks against Israel. He was pronounced dead at Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva after being taken there that evening. The indictment says the severe beating injured his heart and caused his death.
Last week, nearly three years after Abu Asab was killed, prosecutors filed a rare indictment against 12 Israel Prison Service guards. They are accused of beating him and eight other Palestinian prisoners in Cell 6 of Wing 24 at Ketziot Prison as retaliation for reports that Druze soldiers had been killed in the war. Those reports turned out to be nothing more than a rumor, Haaretz reported.
The assault began after Abu Asab asked a guard whether there was a ceasefire. A prisoner told investigators that approximately 15 guards and 15 members of the prison’s Keter tactical unit entered while the prisoners were kneeling with their hands over their heads and faces down. They beat everyone with batons for approximately five minutes, later unleashed dogs and shouted, “No ceasefire.”
Abu Asab was beaten the worst. Witnesses said he was left unconscious and bleeding, his face blue and his hands covered in blood.
The investigation also uncovered evidence that such violence was routine, known to senior commanders and concealed through a code of silence. Because prosecutors said they could not establish which guards delivered the fatal blows, the 12 who entered the cell were charged with the relatively lenient offense of reckless homicide. Female guards who stood at the cell entrance were questioned as suspects but not indicted.

Nearly three decades after the US bombed a factory that produced 90% of Sudan’s major pharmaceutical products under false chemical weapons pretexts, history is repeating itself.
Today, a coordinated disinformation campaign led by the US, Isr*el, and the UAE is weaponising recycled allegations against the Sudanese army, potentially throwing a lifeline to the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a militia accused a g*nocide by UN investigators.
On 5 September 2026, the New York Times and Washington Post simultaneously published articles alleging chemical use by the army, citing a dossier provided by an unnamed "Middle Eastern intelligence agency".
Yet, skepticism was triggered by inconsistencies including dubious photos and AI-generated text anomalies.
Nonetheless, there is evidence of a coordinated disinformation campaign, with an increase of paid ads accusing Sudan’s army of using chemical weapons in the lead up to articles that were then amplified by pro-Isr*el commentators.
The articles are suspected to an attempt to distract public attention from a UN report confirming the UAE's support for the RSF.
The US is also accused of using the allegations to push for a nationwide arms embargo vote at the UN Security Council which, if enacted, could disarm Sudan's state army, while leaving the RSF’s illicit supply lines untouched.
Gaza is not a genocide—the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
By early 2026, Israel has killed 74,582+, estimated to be ~100,000, with the thousands believed to remain under the rubble—21,289+ children and 38,000+ women and girls—alongside ~171,230 Palestinians injured, including ~44,500 children. Among those killed were ~300 journalists and media workers, 588 humanitarian aid workers, 1,722+ healthcare workers, paramedics, and first responders, including 396 UN staff.
Children have been targeted in both war zones and in safe zones; By early 2026, Israel has killed 21,289+ children, with unknown number believed to remain buried beneath the rubble, estimated at around 3,000, bringing the total figure to ~25,000. Children were burned alive while sleeping in tents within refugee camps and in homes in safe zones. Children died of starvation and froze to death; others succumbed to their injuries and a lack of medication, premature infants died in hospitals, and destruction of ~4,000 embryos and ~1,000 sperm samples and unfertilized eggs.
In the first months of the war, Israeli attacks caused more than 10 children per day lose a limb. ~21,000 children have been disabled, leaving Gaza with the largest number of child amputees in history. ~44,000 children have suffered “new war-related injuries,” while psychological injuries have led children as young as 5 to tell UN staff that they would prefer to die.
By early 2026, more than 200,000 tonnes of explosives had been dropped on Gaza—equivalent in total explosive energy to 13-15 Hiroshima-type nuclear bombs.
Weaponize the shelter — over 92% of the housing stock in the Gaza Strip has been damaged or destroyed; more than 371,888 individual housing units have been destroyed or damaged, out of Gaza’s pre-war stock of approximately 472,660 homes, leaving more than 1.9 million Palestinians displaced in makeshift, tattered tents.
Weaponize the education — 534 out of Gaza's 564 school buildings destroyed, plus 12 with possible damage and 18 with unknown status, including 162+ UN-operated schools, and all 12 universities in Gaza, including more than 63 university building destroyed. 100% of physical educational institutions and are closed for learning.
Weaponize the health — all 36 hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been damaged, raided, or structurally compromised. 22 out of 36 are permanently non-functional or partially functional were with almost zero essential emergency medicines stock—until early 2026—dealing with over tens of thousands of injuries, chronic conditions, alongside outbreaks of infectious diseases.
Weaponize the food—forced starvation is an act of genocide.
Weaponize the water — nearly 90% of Gaza's water and sanitation infrastructure has been destroyed or severely damaged, while 91% of Gaza's population facing severe water insecurity, have access to less than 6 liters of drinking water per person per day, far below the 15-litre-per-person-per-day emergency standard. With Gaza Strip remains under a complete electricity blackout from the main power grid since October 2023.
Weaponize the weather — nearly 1.9 out of 2.1 million Palestinians—around 90% of Gaza's entire population—are currently displaced living without adequate shelter in makeshift tents and damaged buildings, leaving nearly a million children live in shelters, suffering the risk of drought, famine, and disease.
Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part, is an act of genocide.
There is far more documented evidence, but under the Genocide Convention, all of the above constitutes a violation of Article II(a)—killing members of the group—Article II(b)—serious bodily or mental harm—Article II(c)—deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about physical destruction—and Article II(d)—measures intended to prevent births.
The UN High Commissioner has one clear obligation — call it a genocide or resign.
Sadly performative & ineffective is more in keeping with the past & current stance of the UK as well as Canada. Taking any real action just doesn’t line up with the longstanding rhetoric, lies, impunity & downright participation of these allied govts in 3 years of war crimes.

South Africa has officially submitted a substantial dossier to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), detailing Israel’s continued non-compliance with legally binding provisional measures.
The submission, formally handed over on 25 August 2026, serves to assist an ICJ committee of judges tasked with monitoring the implementation of the court’s orders in Gaza.
According to the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), Israel’s non-compliance directly undermines the protective functions of international justice.
Hence, the submission is a vital milestone in the struggle for global accountability. By formally documenting Israel’s refusal to adhere to the court’s binding provisional measures, Pretoria is doing far more than advocating for Palestinian survival.
