“Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now” is Starship's biggest hit. Written by Diane Warren and Albert Hammond specifically for the 1987 film Mannequin, the song was partly inspired by Hammond's own life: he had been living with his girlfriend Claudia for seven years and was finally able to marry her after his divorce from his previous wife was finalised. What began as an idea for a wedding song was transformed by Hammond and Warren into the sweeping romantic anthem that became the film's signature song.

Released as a single in 1987, “Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now” became Starship's third and final No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it spent two weeks at the top. It also topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks and became the UK's second-best-selling song of 1987. The song earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song at the 60th Academy Awards in 1988, while its success made it one of the defining romantic pop-rock anthems of the late 1980s.
