I have read in a certain article from a newspaper that in 2025, Kenyan Marathoner Sebastian Sawe personally requested the Athletics Integrity Unit to test him as frequently as possible.
In preparation for the Berlin Marathon, he underwent 25 anti-doping tests involving both blood and urine samples.
This meant he was being tested about two to three times every week, and on some occasions he was even tested twice in a single day.
He continued with the same level of transparency and testing commitment throughout 2026.
Now he has gone on to break the Marathon World Record at the London Marathon, clocking an incredible time of 1:59:30.
Officially, he has become the first man in history to run a marathon in under two hours.

Dictatorship is loading in Kenya, and we must stop it!
As you celebrate the circus of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment, please note that he won’t be going to jail, nor will he lose the money and property he is accused of stealing. This was a dry run for President Ruto to demonstrate that he has a firm grip on the country and that anyone daring to challenge him can be cut down. What should scare Kenyans is how easily Ruto was able to have his way with the National Assembly. He even bought MPs we considered to be incorruptible. But a bigger, more dangerous monster is coming.
A proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill seeking to amend Article 136 of the Constitution, which provides for the election of the President, to increase the term of office of the President from five years to seven years, is slated for tabling in the House. The controversial bill also seeks to amend sections 101, 177, and 180 of the Constitution to extend the terms of MPs, senators, MCAs, and governors to seven years. That is the sweetener to ensure that MPs and senators will support it.
Another proposal in the bill is the creation of the Office of Prime Minister, who will be appointed by the president. This is being done so that they can legalise Musalia Mudavadi’s illegal office.
This unconscionable bill will be passed if we don’t become hostile to our MPs, senators, MCAs, and governors. Let them know that the ground will be very hostile if they attempt to change the Constitution for purely selfish reasons. And we must thank the drafters of our Constitution for their foresight in requiring a referendum for any changes to the presidential term of office. In case the M-pigs pass the bill, it will be incumbent on us to bury it overwhelmingly in a referendum.
The same script we're seeing now is similar to the one from our next-door neighbour, Uganda; only featuring different characters. A youthful Yoweri Museveni began his term in similar fashion by testing the waters, buying off Parliament, and resorting to the use of force when some Ugandans resisted. He is now Uganda’s president for life.
My Ugandan friends tell me that Ruto is not just a great admirer but an excellent student of dictator Museveni. This is not conjecture. There already exists a serious degree of cooperation between the two regimes. The rendition and subsequent torture of Ugandan members of the political opposition, who were meeting in Kisumu a few months ago, was a joint operation between the two countries’ uniformed death squads. Also, ask around and find out who helped Ruto convert his mountains of cash when the Kenyan currency was converted to new notes.
Some of you might not know that during the June protests, many people reported that the Kiswahili accent of some goons who were in plain clothes or disguised in Kenya Police uniform, was alien. This has fuelled suspicion about Museveni’s involvement in quelling protests in Kenya because he fears that young Ugandans, tired of his four-decade rule, might emulate their Kenyan counterparts.
The trend in other neighbouring countries to suppress and eliminate dissenting voices is also more cause for alarm, as Ruto does not like to be outdone by anyone. From Kagame in Rwanda, to Kiir in South Sudan, to Abiy in Ethiopia, to Suluhu in Tanzania, the script is the same - dissent is not tolerated and must be silenced at any cost.
With this kind of inspiration, what will happen to you, and me? In June and July, the police murdered 61 people (that we know of), and abducted and disappeared scores more. Over 400 young people were injured, with some losing their limbs. If we allow Ruto’s stooges - those MPs who have sold their souls to the devil - to change the term limits from 5 to 7 years, forget about democracy. The atrocities of June will pale in comparison with what will follow.
The independence of the judiciary is equally under threat as judges often face intimidation and threats from the executive. A soft Chief Justice and curtailed budget - only Ksh 24.7 billion compared to the NIS budget of Ksh 46.8 billion - puts the Judiciary at a significant disadvantage, and if Ruto secures the 7-year term, expect judges and magistrates who don’t rule the way that he wants to be murdered. Again, find out what Museveni has been able to do with utmost impunity since he secured the life presidency.
NIS is currently collecting dirt to use for blackmail and intimidation of those who resist Ruto’s tyranny. I had written earlier that NIS and the Anti-Terror Police Unit are running the death squads and abducting citizens. It’s such an evil crime to force otherwise good police officers, who swore to protect life and property, to abduct and murder innocent people to please Ruto. Some of the officers in those death squads hate what Ruto has made them become.
In July, I told civil society leaders who were silent when the killings and abductions were happening that their silence would not save them. I told them that when Ruto is done with the protestors, he will come for you. And he did. They were summoned by the DCI. If they don’t organize and fight this dictatorship that is coming, their institutions will be shut down permanently.
What about the ordinary mwananchi? Ruto is taking over healthcare through the fraudulent SHIF and his Adani friends. The airport is about to go to Adani, too. He is controlling housing and agriculture, and God knows what else. To the middle class, business owners, millionaires, and billionaires who think their money will protect them, just know that no amount of money will save you when a dictatorial president wants to take over your business, and if you resist, you get a bullet.
What do you think happened to businessman Jaswant Singh Rai, who was kidnapped in Nairobi's Kilimani area. The billionaire, who owns Raiply, Kabras Sugar, and Uganda-based Sarrai Group, had resisted handing over his business interests and gone to court to seek justice. After the abduction and spending a few days with Ruto's boys, Rai suddenly withdrew all applications pending at the Court of Appeal over his ownership stake in the Mumias Sugar Company. So, do you honestly think you're immune to being muscled out of your business?
The dark days we most feared are here. Remember this, Ruto has never been employed by anyone. He started his life as a goon for Youth for Kanu 92 (YK’92), a lobby/ militia group for then incumbent president Daniel Toroitich arap Moi. The group was accused of being complicit in ethnic violence in southern and central parts of Rift Valley Province up to and after the elections.
Ruto has severally been accused of land grabbing and fraud in Kenyan courts. He was also charged with crimes against humanity (murder, deportation or forcible transfer of population and persecution) allegedly committed during the 2007-2008 post-election violence in Kenya. The case collapsed because of alleged witness tampering, with some witnesses ending up dead.
And if you think impunity will stop at Ruto, think again. Mombasa-based blogger Chawa was abducted and brutally sodomised for allegedly speaking against the governor, according to his abductors. Meru blogger Sniper was tortured and strangled to death for allegedly speaking against the governor. Similar fates fell on Kisii blogger Nyabaro, who was strangled to death, and Peris Mugare, a blogger from Chuka. There have been other suspicious deaths of civil servants linked to politicians over the past two years. Imagine, it’s just been two years since Ruto became president. What will happen if he gets 7?
Ruto is going to continue bribing politicians, disappearing, jailing, and murdering those who oppose him. Speak up now before it’s too late. We are 55 million people against a small minority of a few thousand. We must protect the Constitution at all costs. It's our only bastion of hope.
I don’t know for how long some of us will be alive to keep shouting about the danger posed by Ruto’s regime, but you can count on my voice to continue speaking out, even when sometimes l tremble with fear. Even though he threatens to abduct and murder us, that will not silence us because we do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Evil never triumphs in the end.
*Kenyans have only one option: Ruto Must Go!*
