The Met Office has just issued this rare RED warning of high winds. Valid from 01:00 until 05:00 Monday for parts of Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Highlands. Gusts of 90 to 100 mph are likely for a brief time, bringing a risk of damage, disruption and a danger to life.

The coming 3-4 hours will see the wind strengthening further, with gusts of around, or in excess of 90mph likely along western coasts, the Western Isles and Skye. The strongest winds shift towards Orkney towards dawn.
