Well-defined and nanostructured polymers, interfaces, photoswitches
The work by our former PhD student Gianluca Gazzola during his visit at CP2M is now published in EPJ!
We showed that dispersion polymerization of styrene with a small amount of P4VP macro-CTA generates uniform micron-sized polystyrene particles!

Just published in ACS Polymer Au!
Herein, we established PEGVE as a promising and previously overlooked platform for the design of thermoresponsive 🌡️ and antifouling polymer biointerfaces.
Congrats Francesco (Franz) for leading this project!

We are pleased to share a new article in collaboration with the group of Eric Dufresne at Cornell University.
We showed how to grow thick and dense polymer brushes from lipid membranes by incorporating a polymerization initiator into lipid bilayers. https://t.co/LXzQYP2Pkj
Happy to share our latest JACS article on IPN-based photocatalysts 💡 supported by polymer matrices, enabling reactions in organic solvents and water🫧 with easy recovery and reuse♻️. Thanks to @DellAmico_group for the nice collaboration!

Check out our new article in Chemistry of Materials, where we explore the effect of structural dispersity in polymer electrolytes.
We are very grateful to Prof. Rossana Pasquino and Prof. Franca Castiglione for their help with rheology and NMR studies!

We are pleased to share our most recent publication in Angewandte Chemie, where we delve into the behavior of polyelectrolytes containing spiropyran units.
Congratulations to our PhD Carlo Gericke for all the efforts put in this work!

In @Biomac_ACS we showed how cyclic polyoxazoline brushes on NPs enhance stealth properties in terms of protein binding and cell uptake in comparison with linear brush analogues. Topology matters!⭕️

And while some were having fun in Warwick, others were presenting at the PhD forum @discunipd. Carlos gave a talk on structural dispersity of POEGMAs, Alberto had a poster on zwitterionic polymers, and Gian couldn't be (yet) in 2 places at the same time but his poster was there!
Edmondo and @FrancescaLoran2 also gave lectures. But more importantly we enjoyed inspiring lectures, very good beers, great time with friends that we only see at conferences, and even some clubbing 😶 couldn't ask for anything better! Though someone is talking about a dry July...
Back to the lab after the wonderful and truly remarkable @Macro2024! Many thanks to Dave, Remzi, Paul, @HaddletonGroup@RemziBecer@PWilsonTeam and all people with a blue t-shirt who did an incredible job! Our PhD students Gianluca and Yuwen presented they recent works 👇
Happy to share in @J_A_C_S our findings on the impact of side-chain heterogeneity in PEG-based polymers on relevant interfacial properties like hydration, lubricity and protein fouling https://t.co/chp0D5QRAF
Congrats @carlos_pavon98 & Irene, and thanks @KlokLab, @soft_isa & all!
But all presentations were fantastic and it was a pleasure to spend some days with this creative community of polymer brush scientists! Looking forward to the next meeting.
And of course thanks to AIM and all organizers!
The EUPOC2024 conference on polymer brushes in Bertinoro just came to an end! We enjoyed it a lot, fantastic talks, fruitful discussions, great wine 🍷 and many new friends and collaborators! Eddy, Francesca, Gianluca and Elena presented some work from our group 👇
Honored to have spoken at EUPOC 2024 on "Polymer Brushes" in Bertinoro (Italy) . Big thanks to Eddy Benetti @MacrOrgChemLab , Harm-Anton Klok @KlokLab , and Michele Laus for the invitation!
