Congratulations to our head Prof. Lucio Isa, this year’s winner of the Golden Owl at the Department of Materials (D-MATL). Lucio has been receiving outstanding student feedback for his teaching for many years! @eth@ETH_en@eth https://t.co/A75CeFVh1j
It is a great honor to publish my first “microswimmers” paper in JPCM special issue "Emerging Leader"! Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to soft matter community and the support from Lucio @soft_isa!
Congrats to our brilliant postdoc @Minghan_Hu, who has been awarded the prestigious @snsf_ch Ambizione grant! He will soon start his independent research at @eth_dmavt. Hard work and dedication is being recognized. Keep on shining bright and making great contributions to science!
We are delighted that Vincent's latest @softmatter article has been selected by the Editors as HOT, and FREE to access now! Another reason to check it out ;) Find the article here: https://t.co/EFwakNsvVf
We use a polymer-bridge-based approach to stick a wide range of nanoparticles onto microparticle supports. Using this approach we decorate microparticles with composit films, and synthesize multifunctional designer microswimmers. Read about it @ChemMater https://t.co/2cSS1fHNu7
Isn't this a piece of art? We study interacting boojum defects in nematic Liquid Crystal films, mediated using tailored arrays of silica spheres. Now out in JCIS @ScienceDirect. Congrats to Zazo Meijs and our collaborators from the SMA Group @kaistpr!

Interested in 3D rotational tracking of colloids? In our most recent paper, we propose a new algorithm that enables us to track the 3-D rotation of rough colloids at short time-scales, using time series of 2-D microscopy images. Now out in @softmatter ! https://t.co/5Q7qBTMytK
We build soft, responsive microswimmers that can sense the temperature of their environment. Learn all about it: https://t.co/niu99BEjni Congratulations to Steven, hard work finally pays off!
Do not miss the event!

Congrats to Xuething for recieving this year's SVMT Prize for an outstanding MSc's thesis! She performed her MSc's thesis entitled "Novel approaches for the fabrication of multi-material micro-structures via two-photon-lithography" in our group under the supervision of Steven.
We use capillarity-assisted particle assembly (CAPA) and two-photon polymerization direct laser writing (2PP-DLW) to realize a new class of multimaterial microstructures. Read about it, or look at some pretty pictures: https://t.co/0gv4dgSsHk
Congrats Steven en Xueting!
Max's paper "Fitting an active Brownian particle's mean-squared displacement with improved parameter estimation" has been selected to be an Editor's suggestion! @PhysRevE
Just another reason to check it out ;)

Congrats to Jacopo and Shiva for demonstrating that atomic force microscopy can be used for the in situ reconstruction of the three-dimensional conformation of model microgels adsorbed at an oil-water interface! Now out in @ScienceAdvances https://t.co/piDEY59GJD
We happy to announce that Jacopo got awarded the best oral prize at the Italian Soft Days conference with his talk "Controlling the three-dimensional shape of soft particles at fluid interfaces and how this affects their two-dimensional assembly"! https://t.co/HO0WLj5v4p
Just published and #openaccess, Tracking Janus microswimmers in 3D with machine learning led by Maximilian Robert Bailey, Fabio Grillo and Lucio Isa @soft_isa https://t.co/ZwjiVY201L

Who said wrinkles are ugly? We think the SEM image below proves the opposite! Now in our latest article @softmatter A facile one pot synthesis route to form silica particles with controlled corrugated surfaces. An ode to wrinkles. Congrats Vincent & Chiao! https://t.co/f0CgVcXwtT
