We're very proud of our workgroup member Eleonora Beccari who received her PhD degree last week! Thank you to the opponent @BioGeoKreft who helped to lead an interesting discussion, and to Eleonora's supervisor @C_PCarmona https://t.co/DaWb0DSRzl
Our workgroup members @Juni_Fujinuma and @blancacaleno are back from a successful expedition to Ghana where they sampled plant above- and below-ground traits for #TraitDivNet https://t.co/39ENrIZvDm
Last week our workgroup member @BrunoPaganeli received his PhD degree! Thank you to Javier Loidi who was the opponent of the PhD defence, and congratulations to Bruno and his supervisor Meelis Pärtel! https://t.co/wcAR157FG3

We explored how adding root size traits shapes the big picture of plant strategies. Spoiler: aboveground & belowground sizes form a single allometric spectrum independent of leaf and root economics.

Our workgroup autumn seminar was held in this beautiful location in southern Estonia. Perfect place to discuss the topic of 'Evolution and Macroecology' https://t.co/4uHhtkAUGo
So fresh that I had to hang it! Our paper exploring the relationship between past natural habitats and AM fungal diversity is now out 🌱📈🌐🍄

👏Congratulations to this year's Young Scientist best poster winners at the #iavs2024 conference!
1. Raissa Jardim (Brazil)
2. Adler R. Barboza (Brazil)
3. Bruno Paganeli (Estonia)
On the last day of #IAVS2024 our workgroup member @EleonoraBeccari gave a talk about adding belowground plant size traits to the global spectrum of plant form and function.
Our workgroup has a presentation on every conference day of #IAVS2024! Today @dpftrindade talked about linking taxonomic and functional diversity to community stability.
Meeting of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Vegetation Science and Applied Vegetation Science in Funchal, Madeira. We discussed strategies for further improvements to both journals so that they provide the best service to vegetation scientists and continuously advance the field of plant community ecology.

Our workgroup had a successful start to the #IAVS2024 in Madeira - with a talk about trait imputations from @ETordoni and a poster about drought effects on trait variability by @Slendyroal on Monday 🌿🪴
Congratulations to our workgroup member @Slendyroal who recently received her PhD degree! Thank you to @Mar_Sobral_ who helped to lead the interesting defence and to Slendy's supervisors @C_PCarmona & @riintamme

We had our workgroup spring seminar in Laelatu (Western Estonia) discussing all things #DarkDivNet. On our way to Laelatu we stopped at Kirna manor to check out some spring flowers! https://t.co/LXvKXALVbM
We're very excited to have @C_PCarmona join the 'tree of professors' at the Department of Botany of @unitartu as he was elected as a full professor of functional ecology! https://t.co/bXCSoJeUkm
