Locals are out in force in the Connemara village of Carna after they learned of a plan to bus so-called asylum seekers into the Carna Bay Hotel tonight.

Locals in this GAELTACHT area are not happy!

Ireland's tourists Industry is dying, no hotels to house tourist, yet we close up hotels in some of the most beautiful tourists areas.

Carna is a long way from any where, very little employment or entertainment and is 1 hr 19 min (79.7 km) from Galway City.

Yet Another hotel bites the dust Carna Bay Hotel is scheduled to become a IPAS center,

It is proposed to house over 80 international asylum seekers at the Carna Bay Hotel

The hotel had been the subject of a well-attended public meeting calling for its restoration to the community for tourism.

Local Connemara Councillors have been advised that a proposal which would involve the location of 84 asylum seekers in the village of Carna is presently being considered.

According to the proposal the asylum seekers would be situated in what is described as "across 28 rooms" in the Carna Bay Hotel.

A large attendance at a meeting in the locality last week called for the restoration of the hotel to community and tourism purposes.

However now that our rulers are back in power, the international asylum machine continues to be on the agenda.
