Dear Renters,

Most landlords don't own the home you reside in. They pay a mortgage which has been hit with interest rate rises you don't pay.

They also pay

- landlord insurance
- land tax
- maintenance
- real estate agent fees
- VCAT if a renter decides to become a squatter
- rates
- forced costs due to government over regulations

Most landlords didn't increase the rent during the lockdowns. Some landlords even followed a rent freeze for those in hardship.

They will pay capital gains when they sell and have paid stamp duty when they bought the home you reside in.

They all the carry risks, the financial burden and are at the mercy of government intervention at anytime.

Landlords are not the reason for the housing crisis, they are not the reason for your cost of living increase.

Stop allowing the government to shift the blame for what they are responsible for.
