Jason Arday shouldn’t be dead.

But he is dead - because he didn’t tell the truth.

And Cambridge University didn’t look for the truth - because he’s black.

And fellow black professors didn’t ask for the truth - because he is black.

Jason lied repeatedly.

And he told the exact lies that allow one to excel in the system that elite universities have adopted.

A system that factors in race, hardship, and lived experience under the banner of equity, instead of pure performance.

Nearly everyone in these institutions ignored Jason’s lies, to try and protect black people.

They called the people seeking the truth racists.

Of course there were some racists.

But the majority of people just wanted the truth.

Avoiding the truth didn’t help black people.

Double standards in academia aren’t helping black people.

They hurt the perception of black people who are truly the best, and would have held prestigious positions at elite schools, solely off the merits of their performance.

Double standards always backfire.

Even when well intentioned.

Even when intended to correct for past oppression.

Race-conscious hiring and admissions have created a situation where it is rational to wonder whether a black person has achieved their position because they were simply the best, or because they were good enough, and black.

This is not a racist thought.

It’s a rational thing to wonder when a system promotes people based on race.

It’s a thing I’ve wondered about myself, as someone who graduated from Harvard - which had race-conscious admissions.

No amount of insistence that it’s racist will make it racist.

It’s no more racist than it would be to wonder whether a white player got into the NBA off of just performance, if the NBA decided to focus on “fixing” the underrepresentation of white people.

This is the logical downside of race-conscious hiring and admissions.

You can think the downside is worth the upside.

But the downside remains.

Calling people with legitimate concerns racist didn’t protect black people.

It didn’t protect Jason.

It hurt black people who have earned their positions.

And it allowed a troubled man who built his career on lies to rise to a height so great that his fall from grace killed him.

We could have just had the truth.

Instead, we have a tragedy.

I have now received further disturbing reports from multiple schools, teachers, parents and students about what happened during this 2026 WAEC examination.

In some examination centres, question papers were reportedly insufficient. I received reports of as many as FOUR students sharing ONE question paper.

Think about that.

Students prepared for years for an examination that could determine university admission, scholarships and, in many cases, the direction of their lives only to enter examination halls without enough question papers.

There are also serious reports concerning the security of examination materials, including allegations that some papers or answer materials circulated before the appropriate examination period. These allegations must be independently investigated, not internally explained away.

Even basic examination materials raise questions. Students have reported that calculators and other materials they expected WAEC to provide were unavailable in some centres.

We need an independent forensic investigation of the entire 2026 examination process from question-paper production and distribution to examination security, marking, CBE systems, grading, result processing and eventual release.

WAEC should preserve and make available for independent scrutiny the examination records and, subject to appropriate privacy safeguards, provide candidates access to their scripts including relevant paper-based scripts and CBE records.

If an independent investigation establishes that systemic failures were serious enough to compromise the integrity of the examination, then Nigeria must be prepared to consider every remedy necessary, including remarking, reprocessing results, rescheduling affected papers or, in the most extreme case, invalidating affected examinations.

No institution is bigger than the future of millions of Nigerian children.

Behind every WAEC result is a human being.

A child waiting for admission.

A scholarship that could disappear.

Parents who have sacrificed everything.

A family whose plans may depend on those grades.

This is why WAEC cannot be allowed to investigate WAEC and simply tell Nigerians that everything is fine.

The Federal Ministry of Education, National Assembly and other relevant authorities should urgently demand answers and establish an independent investigation into the conduct and processing of the 2026 WAEC examination.

If WAEC did everything correctly, an independent investigation will clear it.

But if something went terribly wrong, Nigerians deserve to know what happened, who was responsible, how many children were affected and how their futures will be restored.

This is no longer merely an examination issue. It is a question of institutional integrity, accountability and justice for Nigerian children.

We cannot gamble with the destinies of an entire generation.

What I am hearing about WAEC Nigeria is deeply troubling.

This year recorded the highest performance in the history of WAEC and they are not happy about it.

There is something many Nigerians do not understand about WAEC grading.

The score required for A1, B2, B3, C4 etc. may not simply be a permanently fixed number every year.

From the information available to me, WAEC applies statistical standardisation/normalisation based partly on the overall performance of candidates.

In simple English:

If a paper is unusually difficult and candidates generally perform poorly, the threshold required for a particular grade can effectively be lower.

If candidates perform extraordinarily well, the threshold can become much higher.

So hypothetically, what qualifies as an A in one examination could be around 60, while the statistical threshold in another circumstance could be 80, 90 or even higher.

Your final grade therefore may not tell the complete story of your raw score.

This year involved candidates sitting examinations under different modes, including computer-based/hybrid arrangements and the traditional paper-based system.

And there are serious allegations that questions circulated ahead of time in some paper-based centres.

If that happened on a significant scale, it could artificially inflate the overall performance of that population.

Then comes the critical question:

When WAEC carried out its standardisation, were candidates from fundamentally different examination conditions treated as one population?

Because if leaked questions artificially pushed one group’s scores upwards, and those abnormal scores subsequently influenced grade thresholds, an innocent student who genuinely scored very highly could suddenly appear statistically ordinary.

Imagine scoring what would ordinarily be excellent marks, only to receive a surprisingly poor grade because you were being compared against an abnormal national distribution.

That is the heart of what needs to be investigated.

And it wouldn’t affect only computer-based candidates.

Honest children who wrote paper-based examinations without cheating could also have been punished by the abnormal performance of people who had access to questions.

The innocent students potentially become the victims of the malpractice they never participated in.

This is why WAEC cannot simply tell Nigerians that these children failed.

Show us the data.

What were the raw scores?

What were the score distributions?

What thresholds produced A1, B2, B3, C4, C5 and C6 in each major subject?

Were those thresholds changed after marking?

Were computer-based and paper-based candidates standardised separately?

How were centres showing statistically abnormal performance treated?

And have results changed after candidates requested reviews?

Because I am also receiving disturbing reports that some people who aggressively challenged questionable results got their cases reconsidered, while millions of ordinary parents may not even know they can request a review.

If that is true, it is unacceptable.

A child whose parents have connections cannot have greater access to justice than a child sitting somewhere in a village.

And there is another dimension that must not be ignored: I am receiving serious allegations of internal management problems within WAEC Nigeria, including concerns about how staff who question certain decisions are treated.

Those allegations also deserve an independent investigation.

This is not an attack on WAEC.

It is a demand for accountability.

The Federal Ministry of Education and National Assembly should urgently invite the leadership of WAEC Nigeria.

Because behind every A1, C6 or F9 is not just a statistic.

There is a child. There is a family. There is a university admission. There is a scholarship. There is a future.

We cannot gamble with the destinies of an entire generation of Nigerian children.

216 people are dead in Britain with a weight-loss injection suspected in every case, and the number that matters most is not any of the ones being reported.

The MHRA's Yellow Card data, this week:

- Mounjaro: 106,189 reactions, 120 deaths
- Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus): 48,089 reactions, 59 deaths
- Saxenda: 4,491 reactions, 37 deaths
- Total: 158,985 reactions, 216 deaths

Those are suspicions, not findings. The regulator is right to say so.

Now the number nobody is using properly. A systematic review of 37 studies across 12 countries found a median underreporting rate of 94 per cent for schemes like this. It has been quoted all week as a reason to stay calm. It means the opposite. Fewer than one in ten serious reactions is ever reported to anybody.

And here is the part nobody covering this has touched at all.

In Pennsylvania, 3,763 people are suing over gastroparesis. Stomach paralysis. Food stops leaving the stomach, you vomit, you cannot eat, you end up on a ward.

Delayed gastric emptying is how the drug works. It is the mechanism that makes you feel full on less food, printed in the pharmacology, functioning exactly as designed.

The injury and the intended effect are the same event, separated only by degree.

So there is a dose at which the mechanism stops being the treatment and becomes the damage, and nobody is checking where any individual patient sits on that line. Not the pharmacy that posted it. Not the app that sold it.

The scheme collecting all this was built in 1964, after thalidomide. The letter that started it asked every doctor in Britain to report anything that "might be the result of drug treatment". Might, italicised, in the original.

The point was to gather suspicions from people who could prove nothing, because waiting for proof is how you get ten thousand children.

It is now gathering them faster than at any point in sixty years, and the official position is that suspicions demonstrate nothing.

That was the official position in 1961.
