Another disheartening story about US manufacturing jobs being cut March 9th at an Iowa Whirlpool facility. We need to stand up and purposely buy American made appliances to avoid further layoffs and plant closures.

Even if you buy from a foreign company, if their products are made in America, then you’re supporting the American economy. The manufacturing jobs in the US are the life blood of this country.

A huge technological advancement from an American manufacturer. Rivian vehicles are currently made in Illinois and they’re building a plan in Georgia. Rivian supports American manufacturing.

To clarify, Rivian will begin charging for Autonomy+, its enhanced driver assistance package, in April.

It’s priced at $50/month or a $2,500 one time (life of vehicle) fee.

All Rivian’s standard will include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (hands on)
- Lane Keep Assist
- Co-Steer
- Lane Change Assist

Autonomy+ adds:
- Universal Hands Free (on laned roads)
- Lane Change on command
- Auto parking (coming soon)

Future features like point to point autonomy expected later this year will likely require Autonomy+.

For a car to get a buy rating from me, then it needs to be assembled in the US and over 50% of the parts are from the US. I will give a buy rating to a car that isn’t assembled in the US if over 60% of the parts are from the US and the country pays a living wage.

This is a great article that discusses the vehicles with the most American content. The only US companies on this list are Tesla and one Dodge model. Honda dominates with the US content in their vehicles.

This is a very positive sign that America is buying American made vehicles. Every single model on here besides the Chevy Equinox is assembled in the US. Funny how the car manufacturing capital Michigan, buys Mexican made cars.

Apple is moving the manufacturing of their Mac mini to their Houston Texas facility. This is a big step forward for US manufacturing especially since almost all of Apple’s products have traditionally been made in foreign countries.

General Motors is supposed to be an American company but they produce a large portion of the vehicles outside the United States. You may think this isn’t an issue, but those are jobs that Americans don’t have the opportunity to have.

The article says that GM made a strong statement at the end of 2025 for investors due to their elevated sales of vehicles under $30,000. Where are every single one of those vehicles made? Outside of the United States.
