I am so grateful to have had the absolute best colleagues and collaborators at WVU over the past few years who have supported me as I started my independent career. I will miss them all as I move to this next chapter of my career!

In reviewing the recommendations for WVU’s department cuts, 2 trends stuck out:
-Degrees that are often 2nd majors were penalized
-Specialization was penalized

Of all the proposed cuts outside my home unit, this is the one that blows me away the most. Cutting a unit that provides ~20,000 credit hours of instruction annually, saying that those classes aren't worthwhile.
West Virginia University leaders have recommended doing away with 32 of its majors and 169 faculty jobs are on the line amid a $45M budget shortfall.
