The passing of Asha Bhosleji feels like the fading of one of the great soundtracks of my generation.

She and her sister Lata Mangeshkarji were not just singers, they were the voices of India itself.

Lataji will always remain the benchmark of perfection. But to my generation, Ashaji was something equally powerful: she was possibility.

Often seen as the ‘other’ voice in the same family, she refused to be defined by comparison. Instead, she carved out her own space with a style that was bold, experimental.

From cabaret to ghazals, from folk to pop, she expanded what was acceptable, not just in music, but in how a woman could live, choose, and express herself.

In doing so, she didn’t just sing differently. She lived differently..

I personally took inspiration from her and learned from her courage to be a non-conformist and go ‘off-road.’

No matter where you are now, Ashaji, I know you will be breaking boundaries…

What if mango season never really ended?
In a village near Kota, farmer and horticulturist Shree Kishan Suman has grown something India has never quite seen before. A mango variety called ‘Sadabahar’ that can bear fruit up to three times a year.

In a country where mangoes are an emotion, not just a fruit, this changes everything.
Suman’s journey did not begin with mangoes.

After unstable returns from wheat and rice, he shifted to floriculture and even created a rose plant that bloomed in seven colours. That same curiosity pushed him towards mango grafting.

Years of observation led him to one unusual tree that flowered across multiple seasons. He spent over a decade refining it into what is now Sadabahar.

With its rich flavour, low fibre, and Alphonso-like quality, this variety is already drawing attention from farmers and researchers across India and beyond. From Rashtrapati Bhavan to private orchards, saplings are slowly making their way across states.

While scientists are still studying how it performs across climates, one thing is clear. This is a bold step towards reimagining how and when we grow what we love.

It’s a general principle that as economies grow, agriculture must shrink in importance.

But perhaps what declines is not agriculture itself… only our imagination of it

In a village near Kota, Shree Kishan Suman re-imagined his farming practice, shifted from his inherited farming of wheat & rice to first floriculture & then to mango grafting.

What strikes me is not just the outcome, but the method. This is true entrepreneurship: resilience in the face of uncertainty, a science-based approach, and the patience to let nature reveal its secrets.

We most often look for startups in our engineering campuses.

We should be looking just as closely at our farms.

If this variety proves scalable, it opens up real possibilities: for farmers’ incomes, for supply chains, even for how we experience something as seasonal (and sacred!)as the mango.
What if mango season didn’t really end?

And if he ever chooses to scale his venture, I’d be more than willing to back him.

For over 15 years, you were the opponent who pushed me to my limits every single time. The C-390 Millennium is the most modern military transport aircraft in its class and can carry more payload (26 tons) compared to other medium-sized military transport aircraft and flies faster (470 knots) and farther.

It can perform a wide range of missions including cargo and troop transport, airdrops, medical evacuation, search and rescue, firefighting, and humanitarian operations.
It’s a ‘benevolent brute!’

It can operate from temporary or unpaved runways. The aircraft can also be configured for air-to-air refuelling, both as a tanker and as a receiver.

Which is why I am so pleased to share that @MahindraRise has just signed a landmark Strategic Cooperation Agreement (SCA) to advance the C-390 Millennium solution for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft (MTA) programme.

We aim to deliver the most advanced and reliable military transport solution to the Indian Air Force

And the scope of cooperation includes joint marketing, industrialisation and developing India as a hub for the C-390 Millennium.

Together with @Embraer we are working to make India a global hub for advanced aerospace manufacturing.
