Taking a break from Teacher Twitter for awhile. Hoping to recover from some of the harsh discourse of 2020, and to return with a fresh and rejuvenated perspective.

I've lately seen folks on here say they've felt guilty for getting books (mine and other authors) from the library, or people insinuating some authors might be against libraries. This is nonsense, and here's a thread on how using your local library supports authors.
I want to brag about one of my students, Lizy Bean (shared with her permission). I give students a lot of flexibility on what they want their term project to look like. She decided on a Haeckel inspired naturalist journal on Cephalopod evolution and she absolutely nailed it.
Today in GSA, we watched the wonderful @GMCWashington perform in their virtual holiday show! Kids left feeling inspired, grateful, and represented. 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
Special presentation during TA today! My brilliant friend and field biologist delivered his thesis defense on migratory patterns of birds. We got to tune in!! #scienceIRL#careersinscience
@Wronskizzian I had the same issue. I started using GoFormative instead of canvas quizzes. You can see live progress and provide individual feedback in real time. There’s also options to have kids show their work!
I LOVE teaching photosynthesis!!!!!!!!! What are the most common misconceptions you see from kids? Mine definitely have to do with the Law of Conservation of Energy!
My partner from the other room: “Did you just say bingo bango because a kid got a question right?”
Yes I did and I didn’t even think it was weird until you said something.
Moving while virtual teaching was a box that I didn’t think about checking off in 2020, but here we are. Kids got to experience all the craziness with me! Thankful for their patience during live classes this week 😂
This year, I introduced scientific models with the start of our discussion of cellular transport. Ss were asked to draw a model to explain how the cell membrane is semipermeable. Love some of the ideas they came up with!
