@TheCogSciGuy Loved this post, it truly resonated with me as someone who has once placed the aesthetic aspect of fitness on a pedestal for far too long... So glad you spoke up about how this issue affects men, I feel like male body image is often overlooked, but is so necessary to address.
Although I do enjoy Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat as much as the typical young adult does, I find myself questioning whether that enjoyment is genuine or if I'm just a slave to conformity... #notmecrammingparticipation
This may be hypocritical, but I honestly don't believe that the benefits of online participation outweigh the pressures and distraction of social media. There's a whole universe outside the confinements of an iPhone screen, that is so easily neglected #315slides
I found it most challenging to choose an article to contribute to. In particular, it was difficult to discern what exactly the page needed in terms of editing. Moreover, the editing layout itself wasn't initially easy to navigate. #315wikichallenge
In terms of my relationship to Wikipedia, I usually use it for preliminary research purposes. For example, if I'm trying to look into the life of a certain individual, I will use the site to get a broad understanding of their bio and most significant achievements. #315sides
@Slendersoap Really interesting that you bring this point up! For most of my academic life I just never questioned why they would say this. It really solidified the idea in my head that the so-called "general public" inherently has no credibility in terms of research.
@MaryLynneCCOM Agreed! I can think of many instances in which Wikipedia articles have helped me understand more scholarly texts. It should definitely be given more credit for being a substantial starting point.
Wikipedia provides me with an initial sketch or outline for what it is I should be digging deeper into. I've never cited it in an academic bibliography because of the stigma attached to its use.
I would like to give a special thanks to... Myself... for accidentally hurling my phone against my laptop screen, leaving it in dire need of repair this week! Only 6 days and a lot of stress later... here's my Open Letter

Honestly debating scraping my open letter to rewrite one to @virtualcasey and @eg_powell to thank them for the light work load this week because it honestly couldn’t have come at a better time 🙏 #ccom315
The first thing that came to mind when I read about "fake news" was Kourtney Kardashian's Instagram story that claimed blue surgical masks are dangerous and should not be worn. It certainly raised some eyebrows... #315fakenews
In order to give a substantial and accurate evaluation of this movie, I'd have to watch it myself without associating my viewership to the commentary I had previously seen.
When Netflix released the film "Cuties" I, along with thousands of strangers on the internet, condemned its overt sexualization of young children. I thought it was incredibly problematic for multiple reasons. I have never actually viewed the film in its entirety. #315fakenews
As the Kardashian clan has come under fire multiple times for being unsafe during the pandemic, it makes sense why Kourtney would be inclined to share this information. It could be construed as a way to escape accountability and justification for being irresponsible.
The most concerning thing about her Instagram story was the sheer thought of how many of her impressionable followers were convinced by such a psuedo-educational infographic.
