According to this report by experts from Mulago Hospital that is circulating online, Dr. Besigye is still unable to talk or write since he collapsed in court over 3 weeks ago. Despite receiving the report, and in Dr. Besigye's continued absence, the presiding Judge Baguma Emmanuel insisted on hearing testimony from the regime's mercenary-witnesses against a man who is clearly unfit to stand trial!

The regime is determined to fulfill its promise that Dr. Besigye will only leave prison in a coffin, and Baguma is more than eager to facilitate his execution! With this brazen regime capture of the institutions supposed to protect justice, the responsibility falls on all of us as citizens to CONFRONT and REJECT the injustice using every lawful means at our disposal.

Apparently, we are still locked in the historical cycle of UGANDANS RETURNING FROM EXILE, and, a few years later, UGANDANS RETURNING TO EXILE! When shall we stabilise in tolerance of each other’s differences. Because, like it or not, difference in opinion and criticism will always be permanent features of human society. No sustainable progress has been made out of forcing everyone to think the same way and hold the same aspirations. Such approaches have always backfired explosively, no matter how long it takes. Civilisation is largely measured by the extent to which a society is able to work out co-existence in its internal contradictions and tensions. When you manage public discontent and anger by violence, you simply sow seeds for future retaliation and more violence. When scared citizens run out of the country for their lives, even the one threatening them cannot remain in peace. Never!

It is actually a high risk for a country to have many of its discontented citizens in exile. The ‘bitter bread of exile’ increases their anger, and it is harder to know and handle their constant wishes and plans for return. You don’t solve anger by multiplying it. We have had enough lessons on this from our history. Museveni’s ‘Sowing the Mustard Seed’ tells it in detail. The irony is how we keep repeating the same mistakes, and how we senselessly engage the reverse gear every few years - with some Ugandans still cheering on.

Internal audit exposes Shs 1.6bn scam at Uganda Airlines

At the centre of the scam is a fight between advertising agencies Metropolitan Republic Uganda Ltd and TBH Holding Ltd.

The report also recommends tough disciplinary action for the chairperson of the contracts committee, manager Corporate Affairs and PR Shakila Rahim Lamar, as well as Allan Kyeyune, the chief finance officer, who are found culpable for the loss.

According to the report, the actual execution as per the reported purchase orders and invoices was valued at Shs 1.6 billion, hence a budget/ contract overrun of 42 percent, that is Shs 478 million.

Of the Shs 1.6 billion, Metropolitan Republic was paid Shs 408 million while TBH Holding Ltd bagged Shs 1.2bn.
