East Africa's energy architecture just underwent a seismic shift.
Tanzania has commissioned the 2,115 MW Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP), surging its national capacity by >80 per cent.
Here is how Dodoma’s power surge reshapes regional geopolitics 🧵🇹🇿🇰🇪🇪🇬👇
🇺🇸🇮🇷 President Trump secretly flew out of Turkey on military plane last month due to credible Iranian assassination threat, despite publicly stating he was on Air Force One, WaPo reports.
Even journalists onboard Air Force One thought he was on the same flight.
Trump first boarded AF1 in front of cameras. He then exited through a door on the opposite side of the plane into an airport catering truck and was transported to a C-32A.
Today, I paid a courtesy visit to the African School of Governance (ASG), where I met with ASG President Francis Gatare and his Management to discuss areas of collaboration, including governance, local governance, public sector governance, and service delivery governance. Both sides expressed a commitment to exploring joint programmes and partnerships to advance good governance and institutional capacity across Africa.
Pleased to meet with H.E. Dr Abdel-Fatau Musah, @ecowas_cedeao CPAPS, for a constructive exchange on the governance, peace and security priorities facing the #ECOWAS region.
We reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening #AU-#ECOWAS collaboration through closer coordination, sustained engagement and greater institutional synergy. As Africa's peace and security architecture continues to evolve, deepening cooperation between the AU and RECs/RMs remains indispensable to advancing lasting peace, stability and good governance across the continent.
☘️Private sector development remains at the heart of EAC's integration agenda.
🔹The EAC Secretary General Amb. Stephen Mbundi held a meeting with the Executive Director of the East African Business Council @EABCjumuiya Mr Ahmed Farah, to discuss closer collaboration in advancing regional trade, investment and private sector participation.
🔹The discussions focused on addressing Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs), strengthening EABC's advocacy role, promoting East Africa as a preferred investment destination and enhancing private sector participation in EAC policy and technical processes.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the private sector is a key driver of regional integration, competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.
South Sudan’s breathtaking scenery: Maruwa Tourist Camp, Boma National Park.
Please, how can we turn this natural beauty and wealth into millions in our pockets, food on our tables, medicines in our hospitals, and schools in our communities? #SouthSudan#SSOX

Held bilateral talks with President @HassanSMohamud of Somalia on economic ties, security and regional stability, anchored in trust and mutual respect.

In December 2025, the board of directors of African Development Bank (AfDB) approved $214.47 million for the South Sudan-Ethiopia-Djibouti Transport Corridor with Ethiopia receiving $181.5 million, Djibouti with $29.7 million and South Sudan takes $1.96 million.
Ethiopia and Djibouti have started phase II of the construction of a 67km expressway and upgrading of 18km Mouloud section in Ethiopia and Djibouti respectively. The $1.96m for South Sudan is purposely to upgrade the studies of a 280km road from Kapoeta-Raad. Juba is as silent as a grave.
Wishing the People and Government of the Republic of Djibuti a joyful Independence Day. As a founding member, IGAD Chair, and gracious host of the IGAD Headquarters, Djibouti has made invaluable contributions to promoting multilateral cooperation, regional peace, and development.
On behalf of IGAD, Happy Independence Day, Djibouti!
When Africa invests in its youth, it invests in its future.

Whether through entrepreneurship, science, technology, agriculture, the creative industries, civic leadership, or public service, young Africans are turning the aspirations of Agenda 2063 into reality every day.

Happy African Border Day!
Today, we celebrate the vital role of borders as bridges for cooperation, unity, and development among African Union Member States. Together, we can transform our borders into gateways for peace, prosperity, and regional integration across Africa.
I was delighted to meet today with H.E. Ambassador @NoncebaLosi, Permanent Representative of the Republic of 🇿🇦 to the AU. We considered issues relating to peace and security in Africa, particularly the situation in #SouthSudan. We agreed on a number of crucial steps to be taken to support the implementation of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
Working together, the UN and Member States have shown that the development system has moved from the promise of reform to delivering results, with greater clarity on the road ahead.
The opportunity in front of us is remarkable—it’s ours to take.
