@manthonycrowder I didn't really have a concept in mind for the cover and the design folks at @CornellPress did such a great job! The coloring is from the original daguerrotype and the woman pictured and what she's wearing are the subject of the last chapter, the photo sums up the book so well

I'm surprised but pleased that the Schuyler statue is coming down--never thought that wd even be on the table. Besides being one of Albany's major slaveowners, Schuyler was also one of the architects of the 1779 Sullivan Campaign against the Six Nations.
