🚨 Santa Monica 🚨

One nonprofit got $37.5 million of your tax dollars (money the city does not expect to be repaid) to rehab a single 40-unit building. CCSM pays no property tax on these properties.

That’s $937,500 per apartment.

You can purchase a condo in Santa Monica for $575,000.

They bought it for $13.7 million in 2020 to purchase the building from our Housing Trust Fund. Plus, $23.8 million for rehab and relocation which was approved by ALL 7 current council members. They’re already $3 million over budget and asking for more. That's 5x of a private rehab job.

Meanwhile, our streets, sidewalks, parks, and infrastructure are crumbling with $450 million+ in unfunded and backloged projects.

This isn’t affordable housing. This is taxpayer-funded waste.

I’m Derrick Townsend and I’m running for Santa Monica City Council. I will push for full independent audits, a public-facing website showing every line item that you can dissect, and clawbacks for waste, fraud, and abuse. I'm fighting to protect your hard earned money.
