@kevinmyoung Must is an interesting choice of words to apply to folks who believe our individually controlled choices determine whether we go to heaven or hell. “Must” they believe that as well? We humans all live with the tension of believing things that we’re not sure of.

@lxeagle17 We each have our own favorite self-congratulatory epistemological strategies. But past performance does not guarantee future success. If adding 3 points to republicans works this cycle, then maybe we’ll imagine that we didn’t understand it as well as we thought. But I doubt it.

In order for his yacht purchase to translate to an actual raise of $0.15, he would have to have been buying and accumulating a new yacht every year, and then stop buying them.

@lxeagle17 I can never understand why other people aren’t optimally prescient, the way I imagine myself to be. It’s like those other people are self-biased survival-of-the-fittest-believing humans, the way I imagine myself to not be.
