Writes about classical music with an independent mind and a strong will to explain difficult things in a simple way. Formally I am a "Master of fine arts"
@musicandroots I would also include ABEGG-variations in group 2, include Bunte Blätter in group 3 and move "the Peri" to group 3. I would move the second piano sonata to group 2.
"The Peri" is, for sure, not the Schumann "we know", but I think it is beautiful even if it lacks drama.
@musicandroots I would include Nachtstücke, op. 23 in group 1 and the piano quartet and Liederkreis op 39. In group 2 I would add Leiderkreis op 19, Fünf Lieder op 40 and Frauen-Liebe und Leben, and in group 3 Myrthen. I would move the trios to group 4.
@musicandroots@LoveInner I know that Horowitz has mentioned the last movement as the reason why he did not play the Schumann concerto, and I am pretty sure that he used the word "etude" in the context.
@exQUIZitely That very game, and "Gods", and "Super Mario 1" and "Super Mario 3".
Epic is perhaps not the right word for the three last, but they have their own kind av greatness.
@musicandroots "and lack direct communication."
The million dollar question is: Is it really possible to write music which communicates fully if you are deaf?
I would suggest "no" as answer. At least "normally no".
