I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a dedicated producer Badiru and social media handler at Next Media. My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved families, the entire @nextmediaug fraternity, and friends of the deceased.

The young men involved were exceptionally hardworking, and will be greatly missed. I also pray for the swift and full recovery of the injured young man.

May the departed soul rest in eternal peace, and may God grant strength and comfort to all those mourning this painful loss.

Joined three Anglican Bishops and the Most Rev. Emeritus Archbishop Stanley Ntagali at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Masindi, for a thanksgiving service following my appointment as Minister of Local Government. The occasion also marked one year since the enthronement of Rt. Rev. Kugonza as Bishop of Masindi.

1. Thanksgiving Service

The service brought together three Anglican Bishops, the Most Rev. Emeritus Archbishop Stanley Ntagali, and the faithful at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Masindi, in a moment of thanksgiving for my appointment as Minister of Local Government. It also provided an opportunity to celebrate Bishop Kugonza’s first year of service since his enthronement.

During the service, I called upon the faith community to remain steadfast in supporting the “Expose the Corrupt” campaign, as endorsed by the President of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This is in line with our shared commitment to accountability, integrity, and service to the people.

2. Presentation of the Vehicle Gift

I had the honour of officially presenting a brand new Landcruiser, gifted by the President of Uganda, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, to Rt. Rev. Kugonza, Bishop of Masindi, in the presence of the Bishops and the gathered faithful.

The President’s gesture reflects appreciation for the Church’s continued role in promoting moral values, unity, and community service. It also reinforces the strong partnership between faith leaders and government in advancing national efforts to fight corruption, strengthen transparency, and improve service delivery.

3. Closing Remarks

I extend my gratitude to the Christian faithful for their overwhelming turnout and continued moral support for a values-driven leadership agenda. May God continue to bless the Church, our leaders, and our nation as we work together to expose corruption and build a better Uganda for all.

I met a delegation from Nonda Coffee Park led by Mr. Tonny Miiro Kibuuka, who briefed me on their plans to establish a coffee processing and value addition facility. I welcome this investment because it is exactly what we have always been advocating for.
Uganda should not continue exporting raw coffee. We must add value before export so that we create jobs, increase household incomes and earn more foreign exchange.
The government will support this initiative and mobilise our coffee farmers to produce more in preparation for the increased demand. I congratulate them and wish them good luck.
