This is good! Hoeflation has been out of control, 4s thinking they are 10s, maybe this will bring some balance and a reality check to the dating market.
The math on these @Topstep lab accounts makes sense. I bought 5 will report on progress.
$49 cost, 1k drawdown, $6k profit target, $3000 payout
Standard 50k
$99 cost, 2k drawdown, 8-9k profit target for a 2-3k payout, depending on firm and 80-90% profit split
You have to size right for smaller drawdown but ROI is great.
I tend to agree with @traderkane on this one.
As much as I don't like how things played out at @Topstep, they are a major player in the space with the capacity to fix the platform issues and do right by the traders.
Whether they will emphasize retaining customers and doing right by traders remains to be seen. I remain optimistic.
ATTENTION!! If you trade with @tickticktrader:
I requested a payout, and they closed my account and locked me out. No email, no explanation—just ghosted me!
I wouldn’t touch that firm with a ten-foot pole!
This one mindset shift that keeps me consistently profitable. I call it:
Pre-Market Chair Flight.
Have you ever watched how the Blue Angels train? They fly inches apart at 500 mph in million-dollar jets. One tiny mistake and you either collide with your wingman or spiral to the ground in a fireball. There is zero margin for error, so they don’t leave anything to the moment. They rehearse every possible scenario on the ground, in a chair, until the correct response is automatic.
That’s exactly what the best traders do before the opening bell.
Your pre-market drill is your chair flight.
Long before you open your charts, you sit down, get calm, and mentally fly the session. You decide in advance, exactly what market conditions and setups you will trade, how you will enter, where your stop goes, what you will do if price moves against you, and what you will do if it rockets in your favor. You visualize every branch of the decision tree:
- If this happens → I do that.
- If that happens → I do this.
- No hesitation, no hope, no “let me think.”
You rehearse it until it’s muscle memory.
Because once the market opens, emotions spike, stakes skyrocket, and that’s the worst possible time to be making critical decisions. That’s when fear whispers to move your stop. That’s when greed screams to add to a winner that’s already extended. That’s when you lose your edge.
The pre-market chair flight removes improvisation from the cockpit. When the heat hits, you’re on autopilot, executing the plan you already flew a hundred times in your head.
Zero room for error. Pure execution.
Do the drill.
